How To Make Warm Vanilla Body Scrub

Have you ever wanted to make your own beauty products but worried they may not turn out? I am going to share my favorite body scrub recipe with you, and I promise you will like it.  Sometimes I like to make a floral or citrus for spring and summer, but for winter only warm fragrances make me feel cozy and wonderful.  Not only is this super easy to make, it is very inexpensive and looks beautiful in a jar with a little label for a homemade gift.
Let’s make something luxurious that will make all of the gals (and you) in your life feel pampered and fabulous!
How To Make Warm Vanilla Body Scrub:
Ingredients:
16 oz Epsom Salt (no fragrance)
3/4 cup carrier oil (safflower oil/kitchen oil works well and is inexpensive)
3 t. vanilla extract

Mix ingredients in a mixing bowl and fill two 8 ounce Mason jars, seal and be prepared to make more upon request!  Alternatively table salt or sugar can be used, however I prefer to use Epsom salt for a few reasons: sugar can irritate someone with candida issues, Epsom salt is great for muscle pain and tension, and it is more course than table salt.
So there you have it, let me know if you make this and love it.
I cannot stop walking by and smelling it.  Maybe it’s time to make some muffins or something!!
Thank you for reading and creating with me, hugs & blessings to you and your family

xoxo, Tanya

  8. Wonderful! I am going to make some tonight!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing. I didn't think it would be so simple and using Epsom Salt is a great idea!

  9. I love sugar scrubs! Great recipe!

  10. I just made this. It was very easy. The only down fall was it didnt smell good at all. It didnt even smell like vanilla to me. But I loved how soft it made my skin. Thanks for sharing.

  11. To @Yvette Lyle- you can purchase fragrance oils at your local craft store just for the purpose of getting that vanilla smell. Iv made scrubs an lotions using these an their fantastic! Great scrub!

  12. That Epsom salt is some fabulous stuff!! I bet this is wonderful!

  13. so I just found this and I want to make a bunch for my bunco ladies for mother’s day….can I just switch up the scents with different oils? how does the person use the scrub? just taking a spoonful and rubbing on skin and rinsing off? I dont’ use scrubs but thinking this would be economical and wonderful for my bunco sisters!

    • Hi Sherri!

Yes, you use it exactly as you mentioned, and the scents can be changed as well. Essential Oils can also be used, like lavender, orange, etc… What a great gift for your Bunco ladies-if you have more questions just let me know.

      xo, Tanya

  14. I was just a lil curious about the oil….where can i find this and can it be changed out with anything else

    • Hi Charlie!

You can really use any kind of oil you like, almond oil makes an excellent base for sensitive skin, but can be more expensive that regular good old canola or safflower oil (like the kind you find in the cooking/baking aisle at the grocery store.) As long as it remains liquid and it’s not a solid like coconut oil it will work great 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions!! xoxo

  15. Just wondering, but could olive oil be used?? Or maybe coconut oil? This seems like such a great gift idea!!

    • I make a similar scrub with epsom salt, olive oil and some coconut oil which goes in as a solid but when mixed with all ingredients it stays liquid. I use many scent combinations and always use essential oils. Peppermint can be great with vanilla as well.

  16. Made this for Christmas gifts this year. Smells amazing!

  17. Just wondering, how long can they keep for?

    • Lei,

That’s a good question! I have usually used mine up pretty fast after I make it, but I would think it would be good for at least a few months with maybe a bit of settling. A quick stir and it should be good to go! Thank you for visiting 🙂 xoxo

  18. Just whipped up a batch and gave it a test drive on my dry winter hands…Oh so wonderful. Thanks for sharing and i too will be making this for gifts. No more expensive store bought scrubs for me.
