Valentine Gift Idea {Dollar Store Style}

The dollar store is a wonderful place to find inspiration
and tons of holiday decor all year long.
I combine my dollar store finds with supplies from
other stores and sources to make one of a kind
home decor and gifts for way less.
The dollar store find for this project was the plate.
Here is what I used to make this
thrifty Valentine gift…

 supplies:
Dollar store plate
Matte Mod Podge
Foam brush
Mini-clothespins
Jute twine
Assorted scrap book paper
Decorative scissors (I used a scallop)
Pre-cut “i” and “u” or use a paper cutting tool/machine
Small double sided sticky mounting squares or hot glue

I began by applying a light coat of Mod Podge to the back of the large scalloped heart I cut out of scrap book paper.  Pressing and smoothing it onto the plate, I did the same with the letters next.  After that I applied a thin coat of Mod Podge over the entire front of the plate for a smooth finish.

Next I cut out five circles from scrap book paper
with my scallop edge scissors and folded each in half.
Using the mini clothespins I attached them to the jute twine.

I applied a sticky square to the back of each clothes pin and
chose exactly where I wanted them to go.  Once I had them
in place I used a dot of hot glue on the ends of the jute
twine to tack it down on the back of the plate.
And voila! Pretty quick don’t you think?
What do you like to make using thrifty or
dollar store finds?
I thought I was done decorating and crafting for
Valentine’s day but I have a few more projects in
the next couple weeks that are quick and easy.
Valentine’s day is only 2 weeks away!!
Thank you so much for creating with me
and following along.

Super cute project… where do you buy your mini clothes pins? I bought some a while back but they were from a place that you never know what they will have next time you go!
