To The Moon And Back Painted Sign

I have always loved curling up with my
little ones and reading the book that made
this phrase so dear to many of us.

“Guess How Much I Love You” is a classic
for our family.  If you have not read it, I
highly recommend it, you can find it
here on Amazon.

I have a dear friend who is about to be
a momma again, this time to a baby girl.
I wanted to make her something for
her pretty nursery and came up with this.
So while my sign is gender neutral as
it is, it is perfect for a sweet baby girl
with some banner love strung above it.
And you know how much I love
a reason to make a new banner!

wood sign, painted wood sign, how to paint a wood sign
I began by using a piece of scrap wood I
had left over from my Upcycled Sofa Table
and painted it all over with
Krylon Spray Paint in Ocean Breeze.

Next I gave the edges and surfaces a good
sanding, and chose a lower case stencil
I ordered from Hobby Lobby here.

Instead of applying the paint directly to the wood
thru the stencil, I outlined each letter with a pencil.
I liked how the outline gave the letters good
definition when I filled each in with white acrylic
paint by hand.  I let the sign dry completely,
gave it another good sanding to smooth
the letters out and age them a bit.

Next I cut out some triangles out of scrap book
paper and glued them to some pink ric rack.  Using
foam letters to spell out “love you” and a bit of blue
ribbon at the ends, the banner was ready too.
I used some picture hanging wire and two
screw eyes to create a hook on the back.
Now I just have to hope she does not read this
before I can give it to her!

I cannot think of a more exciting time than
the arrival of a new little one in the world.

Happy Spring friends, it cannot be
much longer yet right?
For those of you who are still looking
at snow, hang in there and buy
some cut flowers for inside.  They
are good for the soul.  Thank you
for creating with me, xo
