Lasagna Formaggio Recipe

We are a casserole, soup and make ahead family.  Especially on those days when I am knee-deep
painting a dresser or just busy running around town.  Is it just me, or if it hits lunchtime and I have
not thought about dinner yet, we may very well be eating cereal that night.  Don’t tell me I’m alone in
this please!   So, make-ahead it is. 

One of my favorite dinners that I can make ahead of time and pop in the oven is Lasagna.  We love it.
(did you know that Lasagna is one of the top ten most searched family dinners?)
While my kiddos can sometimes be a bit picky, luckily they love Lasagna too!

grandma folks!) so this is going to be one of the very first dishes we make for them.

I gathered up my McCormick® Garlic Powder, Italian Seasoning, Parsley Flakes, Black Ground
Pepper, remaining recipe ingredients, and this was together in a flash (my fave!) 
The house smelled amazing while the flavors blended together and our dinner 
was ready before I knew it.  

Lasagna Formaggio Recipe
serves 12

2 containers (15 ounces each) ricotta cheese
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mozarella cheese, divided
2 eggs
1 teaspoon McCormick® Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon McCormick® Perfect Pinch® Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon McCormick® Parsley Flakes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Black Pepper, Ground
1 jar (26 ounces) marinara or other pasta sauce
1/2 cup water 
9 uncooked lasagna noodles
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*F. Mix ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, eggs, garlic powder,
Italian seasoning, parsley, salt and pepper in a large bowl until well blended.  Pour marinara sauce
into a medium bowl.  Pour water into the empty jar, cover and shake well.  Add to the marinara
sauce and mix well.

Spread about 1 cup of the sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 inch baking dish,  Top with three of 
the lasagna noodles. Spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture over noodles.  Repeat sauce, noodles and 
cheese layer once.  Top with remaining noodles and sauce, making sure to cover noodles with sauce. 
Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.  Cover with foil.

Bake 45 minutes.  Reomove foil.  Bake 15 minutes longer or until noodles are tender.  Let 
stand 15 minutes before cutting.  Serve with additional marinara sauce, if desired.
