Upcycled Glam Vase

This past Christmas my sister Kim and her husband Adam drove up from the Bay area as they do every year.
The arrival of Aunt Kim and Uncle Adam is huge in our house.
And they have about a 12 hour trip to make it up to our place, so it’s quite a drive.
The kids like to stand in the window and keep watch for them when they know their beloved Aunt and Uncle
will be arriving soon.
Then there is a soft knock at the door, and three kids (plus one neurotic Jack Russell mix) are racing towards
door and spill out onto the porch to greet our weary loved ones.
We had an awesome time as usual, and time to hug and say goodbye always comes too soon.
This year they left a few bottled coffee drinks that they didn’t want to repack as they hit the road to see more
family (and being that they contained copious amounts of much needed caffeine) I took them.
And they were soooo good.  But I couldn’t throw out the super cute bottles, so I washed them.
And they sat, waiting for a project.
Do you do that too?
I chose a design with a little sass and a little frill, combined this gold striped rose vase feels glam to me.
Here is what I used…
Supplies:
Clean bottles or jars
Tape (masking or washi tape)
Gold Spray Paint ( I use Krylon)
Open area and cardboard or paper to protect from overspray
Foam brush
Mod-Podge
Decoupage papers or scrapbook papers for rose or floral design
Scissors
I taped a striped design with my washi tape (I chose washi since it’s a bit more narrow than masking tape)
and applied three coats of spray paint to the exposed area of the bottle.
After the paint was completely dry, I removed the tape and clipped a large peachy color rose out of my
scrapbook paper.  Next I used a foam brush to apply a good coat of Mod Podge to the back of the rose
and centered it on my vase.  I smoothed out the edges and allowed the paper to dry.
One big pretty flower later, an
d I was
in business.
Perfect for your coffee table, windowsill, or anywhere you want a little more sass and glam in your home.
You can go crazy with this idea, rustic, modern, frilly, oh the options…
Makes me thirsty, I need a coffee.
What’s something that you would like to paint or upcycle  that you may have recycled before?

Cute idea! I love upcycling things that would otherwise just get recycled. The gold paint was a great choice!
