DIY Geometric Succulent Wreath and the worst quilt ever

Quilting has absolutely nothing to do with this project.

You like wreaths, I like wreaths, and I bet we both really like an easy DIY wreath that is cool, affordable and quick to make.

I bring the topics of quilts up because I love them, and I am absolutely the worst quilter that ever quilted.

I realized this after carefully shopping for just the right fabrics, planning and choosing the week of a snow storm in the early 90’s to try my hand an quilting.

AND MAKE A QUEEN SIZED QUILT.

Yep.

Queen sized, lots of snow, and the saddest attempt at quilting ever.

I wanted to quilt.

I saw them at the fair, and truly believed that I could join the ranks of quilters.

It was that day that I realized I like quick projects.

And nothing that is going to drag on because I will think of 19 other things I want to make and the first thing is still not done.

It was a giant suck-fest of fabric and one stressed out mom who realized she isn’t cut out for quilting.

But also realized that I kick butt at spray painting things.

And hot glue, my love affair with hot glue is a thing.

Because I can fix anything, and I can fix it FAST.

So now you know why I am the worst quilter who ever quilted, and that I like instant gratification.

I am totally ok with that.

If you don’t know who you are at 47, you could very well spend you time snowed in and slowly slipping into a bad place while thinking you are a quilter.

Being a  spray painting bad ass isn’t the worst fate.

So if you are a fellow I-want-to-make-something-cool-but-have-ten-minutes-kind-of-person, you have found the wreath for you.

Here is what I used to make this super easy Geometric Succulent Wreath, and no quilts were harmed during the making by the way:

How to make a modern wreath, diy wreath, succulent wreath

  • One metal wreath base in the shape of your choice
  • Gold spray paint
  • A few clip on or small faux succulents from your local craft store
  • Florist’s tape

After doing two good coats on each side of the wreath base with gold paint, I twisted the stems of my faux succulents to the bottom corner of the wreath.

Ass a teensy bit of florist’s tape to hold them in place if needed.

Drop the mike and walk away like you just realized how much you love to make stuff, and you will never torment yourself again trying to be someone your’e not.

Hang your wreath, pour a glass of wine and find your next project my friend.

I have a house-hunting update coming soon too, I can’t wait to share with you some exciting news!
