Boho vibe summer front porch

Hi friends!

I am super excited to share my recently refreshed outdoor space for our front porch.  It’s kind of a wonky narrow area so you cant really lose your mind with big pieces.

But before I get into that, I want to thank Katrin from Kreativ K for putting together this fun Outdoor Space hop.  If you are not following Katrin and her gorgeous boho-scandi blog, make sure you start, she so creative!

While there are some exciting changes happening behind the scenes while we house-hunt, I still have to have my porch ready for summer.  Am I ready for summer? Not so much hah, but at least my porch is rocking a global vibe full of plants and pretty colors.

I find myself flip flopping every few years between a bolder, brighter color palate and a soft, light, neutral color palate.

Lately, everything mid century modern and indie/boho has been making me swoon, so I guess it’s good that I like a super eclectic home and I am not tied to one theme.  I am fairly certain this began on an extremely tight budget many years ago, and since I still love to thrift, I have kept going and never questioned what I like.

So, onto the front porch space.

I love the look of layered rugs and I knew I wanted to start there.

I found these side tables at Home Depot a couple months ago and I am obsessed with them.  I kind of wish I had some for the living room, back patio, you know, everywhere.

I have had two of these black chinoiserie style chairs for a long time and I love them.  They come inside, and go back out.  They have natural bamboo and now black as they were getting a little shabby and needed paint.  They have had a leopard print seat, and now this year a fresh modern grey with a white dot pattern.  I like to use what I consider a “neutral” like this fabric because even though it has it’s own pattern it still goes with so many things!

Being a plant lover, I don’t think that anything brings more pop to a space that different types of plants at different heights.

I found the bamboo tray, and floral pillow at Goodwill.  The orange and white rug is also a thrifted find.

And my wreath I shared last week here.  It is so subtle I love how it’s there but it does not take away from everything else.

Using some Command Hooks I put some of my favorite global inspired baskets on the “wall” aka vinyl siding.

Some fresh flowers and a Mojito add just the right touch for relaxing and watching the kids play.

Now I just need some Jimmy Buffett and we will be in business.

Thank you so much friends for reading and following along.

Stay tuned for more thrifty ideas to spruce your space this summer and not blow your budget!

  3. I love this space so much, Tanya! It definitely has a great boho vibe with layered rugs and the mix of patterns and textiles you’ve used. And, yet, it feels so pulled together! I have to say, my favourite part is the wall of baskets – I love woven goods and basket wall displays are just so cool!
