7 Tips For Shipping Christmas Treats + My Favorite Cookie Recipe

This post brought to you by Duck Brand provided by ShurTech Brands, LLC. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hey Y’all! I am so excited to share my favorite Christmas cookie recipe with you, but first I wanted to share a few of my favorite tips for mailing your Christmas cookies & treats as they travel from your kitchen across the miles to your loved ones.

7 Tips For Shipping Christmas Cookies

  1. Choose sturdy, round or cutout cookies with rounded edges to avoid broken corners.  Think drop, slice and rounded cutout cookies.  So many options that should arrive in perfect condition.
  2. Use a strong box and layers of crumpled wrapping paper or tissue to cushion those treats.
  3. Wrap cookies, bars and breads in snug plastic wrap to protect them and keep them fresh.
  4. Other treats such as caramel corn, sweet & salty mixes & nuts travel very well too.  Try packaging them in individual Ziploc bags to protect flavor and quality while shipping.
  5. Try sturdy breads such as pumpkin bread, and quick breads that are dense, and wrap each in a snug layer of plastic wrap.
  6. Choose treats that don’t need to be frosted.  Frosting will not stay as stable in a variety of temperatures while shipping, as well as making treats stick together.
  7. Have fun! We all love receiving a box full of homemade goodies during the Holidays, and they are a budget-friendly gift from the heart and home.

I found a fun way to decorate and protect the outside of my packages by using  EZ Start Printed Packaging Tape.  I love to send care packages to my loved ones and how fun to bring some Holiday cheer to their packages by dressing them up with sturdy shipping tape.  EZ Start Printed Packaging Tape comes in pretty designs with peppermint candies or pretty ornaments for the Holidays, here is how I used them to package those Christmas treats that I have been working on!

These printed designs were so fun to use, my wheels are turning as I see visions of sugarplum fairies and some fun Christmas crafts in my near future as well.  Just think of the possibilities! Maybe some fun decorated tins for gift giving, or dressed up gift bags or even a wreath!

Are you ready to make my favorite cookies for Christmas? I have been making these for about
twenty years, and our family so looks forward to these every Christmas.

Mexican Wedding Cookies

makes approximately 2 dozen cookies

1/2 cup of powdered sugar
1 cup of softened butter
2 cups of flour or gluten free flour
4 t. vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups of chopped walnuts (almonds or pecans can be used as well)
1 cup of powdered sugar mixed with 1/4 t. of ground cinnamon (set this aside for later)
Preheat oven to 350*
In a mixing bowl combine 1/2 cup of powdered sugar with butter and mix until smooth.  Add flour and vanilla, blend again until smooth.  Fold in chopped nuts and chill for 30-60 minutes until firm.
Using a heavy, ungreased cookie sheet roll dough in rounded teaspoonfuls and place 2-3 inches apart,
baking for 9-13 minutes until golden around edges.  Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool for
5 minutes before moving to wax paper or paper towels to cool.  Once cookies are cool, roll each cookie to coat with remaining powdered sugar and cinnamon mixture and store in a sealed container in layers separated by wax paper or paper towels.
Enjoy!

  1. YUM. That's my favorite Christmas cookie too! Probably a good thing that there's not a plate of them sitting on our table. It's way below zero out and a good day to stay indoors beside the fire, eating cookies! Yikes. 🙂
