Beverage Stand From A Changing Table

Since we are fixing up our backyard on a dime, I am re-purposing old stuff into new stuff.

And saving A LOT.

Not to mention how fun it is to stand back and see how far you have come, one thrifty DIY
at a time.  Here is what I did…

We have a patio table, chairs, planters etc… that I can paint and refinish to update
them for summer entertaining (and a wedding too!) but we had no area for drinks
until now.

Different than a buffet table you would set up for serving food, or your general eating area, a
designated area to serve drinks seems to help the flow and keep people chatting and visiting.

Not to mention it looks really cute.

So I decided to repaint an old changing table I picked up about five years ago for $15.00
off of Craigslist.

I started by cleaning the table well, and painting it with two coats of aqua blue spray paint
(Krylon Ocean Breeze.)  Next I found some scrapbook paper that looked like old barn wood
or pallet pieces, using some Mod Podge I applied the paper to both shelves of the table.

I used bright red bins I found at Dollar Tree to hold chips, snacks, extra drinks etc…
The top is a great area for a beverage dispenser, glasses, pitcher, napkins and straws.  I used
red & white gingham napkins, also from the Dollar Tree, a glass decanter from a local thrift
store, and IKEA drinking glasses.

A large basket on the bottom can hold extra snacks, pop, or even some outdoor games.
You could also add casters to your stand, I opted not to as it will be sitting on a cobblestone
patio, and casters would have not been as stable.

Some chalkboard love, a summer banner here and there, and you can add a bright, fun
piece of patio furniture that can serve many purposes and pull together an eclectic
Summer vibe.

Fun, relaxed, easy, thrifty, just a few things I love about Summer 🙂  Do you have any
backyard projects in the works right now?

  2. So fabulous. I want to DIY a bar cart and was actually eyeing a changing table at a store the other day. Glad to see one in action!

  3. That's a great idea for a changing table! We didn't buy one for our little guy — just used a pad on top of the dresser. But if we had I would definitely be considering this upcycle! Looks great 🙂
