Hey there! How are you friend?
I hope you have had a wonderful week, and are perhaps gearing up to get your DIY on this weekend.
No matter how crazy (or wonderful) the spring weather may be where you are, we can all use a little
something pretty in our day. I love flowers, real ones are of course are my favorite. But I will take a
great faux version too. I know some folks have an aversion to them, but I happen to like how easy &
low maintenance they are (I know, just dusting, but still!)
- Paper mache letters
- Sharp knife or straight edge to cut letter front
- Dried crafting moss (I found mine at Dollar Tree and use 1 1/2 bags)
- Grass textured rope ($5.99 for 72 inches at JoAnn’s)
- Variety of flowers to use in colors of your choice
- Hot glue
- Wire snips
I began by dragging out my giant bin full of floral goodies and dug thru it to find a few blooms to use.
Next, I used a sharp knife to remove the front only of each letter, and working one section at a time,
added hot glue inside the letter, then pressed in a section of moss to secure. Once every letter was
done, I cut 1 yard pieces of the grass rope and wound the rope around each letter, securing the ends
on the back with hot glue. I used a wire snip (you can also use the base of needle-nosed pliers if they
have a wire cutter on them) to cut the stem down on each flower, securing in place with hot glue.
Voila! All done and ready to set them on a shelf, or hang on a wall for some pretty pizzaz anywhere.
A small piece of string tied in a loop and glued to the back of each letter works well for a hanger.
Wouldn’t these be perfect for a wedding gift, Mother’s Day gift or for a handmade housewarming
present? So many ideas, I may need to get more letters!
