Book Page Valentine Garland

I have a confession to make, I think I have become addicted to Holidays.  Is that possible? As I vacuumed up the pine needles and took the last of the Christmas ornaments out to the garage, I was thinking about…Valentine’s Day.  I found myself sorting through my fabric, sorting out everything for the next few projects.  Making a list of what I need would like to get for the next few ideas dancing around in my head to follow after the ones that are currently in the hopper.

Valentine’s Day is wonderful, because we all have people that we love in our lives.  People that mean so much to us, and we want to express that love and appreciation.  So, while we always have some yummy recipes and some DIY projects too.  You will start to see more Valentine’s Day goodies and projects in your inbox from twelveOeight.  Why start now? Because we have less than 6 WEEKS until V Day, so we gotta get our glue guns fired up and start making some stuff.

Crafting and creating with paper is fun all year, but there are SO many thrifty projects to try this time of year.  Since it’s just the New Year still, I have a pretty “LOVE” banner not fully decked out in pink and red, but a soft grey-lavender.  And book pages of course.  My first banner of the year HAD to have some book pages in it…

I cut four heart shapes out of my scrapbook paper, folded in half with scalloped craft scissors.

Used a floral page punch along the bottom of each of the four book pages.  Then a single hole punch at the top of each corner, weaving a long piece of jute twine through.  Next I attached the lavender hearts with scrap booking glue to my book pages, then mounted each letter spelling love out.  I found a large package of these recently at Target for $5.00 pre-cut, and a full alphabet in gold and silver.  Not bad!

I hung my banner against a chalkboard on my kitchen counter, and above a chippy little wooden box.  I painted the box a few months ago with black satin spray paint and sanded until it looked nice and shabby.  A little more jute twine, and some white flowers, and we were in business.

The creator of this hot rod is none other than my six year old Logan.  He was excited when he saw me taking a picture of this morning’s masterpiece.  I told him that if he gets Mama a car like that, painted just like that, I will totally take it grocery shopping.  Maybe a mommy night out too…

A close up of this super-easy Valentine craft, all with supplies you may already have or can easily find at Jo Ann’s or other craft stores.

A soft, romantic vignette for my kitchen.  A hint of Spring around the corner, but not here yet.  Winter white flowers, chippy paint, a chalkboard, and a pretty banner to make it complete.

Thank you so much for crafting with me today!

  1. I picked up a package of those glittered letters at Target and told my daughter, "I am SO tempted by these….". Then I put them back-ha!
I really have barely made a dent putting Christmas away, I guess I'd better get on it!

  2. Hi! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa?
My website addresses a lot of the same topics as yours and I think we could greatly benefit
from each other. If you are interested feel free to send me an e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you! Fantastic blog by the way!
