Don’t Look Back new 2015 Free Printable

Free Printable twelveOeightblog.com #printable #2015 #printablewallart #DIY #Gallerywall #printablequote

I know we still have a handful of days before Christmas, but this phrase has so been on my heart all day today.

I wanted to turn it into something that I could print out and hang on what will be my updated gallery wall in
January.  It’s just so true, the worrying, fretting, regretting.

All belong in the past and behind us.
They just don’t seem to be part of ringing in a new year, full of possibility and hope.

And I figured that if I love a free printable, you probably would too.
Oh what a thoughtful and thrifty gift to frame it and give it to a friend, I wanted to make something that
makes us think about new beginnings and second chances. [Read more…]

Christmas Mantel | collected + made

christmas backdrops photography uk

Hello and welcome to to my mantel tour 2014!

I could not be more excited to have teamed up with 14 other knock-your-socks-off talented bloggers to put together a
little mantel eye candy for you.  No matter what your style or theme is, you will be sure to find some inspiration here!

Before you start looking for the fireplace, I will let you in on a little secret…
It’s on the other side of the room, and has a Christmas tree in front of it.  It’s a gas fireplace with a tile surround, and
I usually keep my tree in that spot, and since it’s more of a fantel (fake mantel) than a mantel, so well why not use something else?

So, I like to use my wall of bookcases along a long wall in our family room for my seasonal displays, collections, and
ever-changing gallery wall.

Plus, we have a 3 month old giant (and by this I mean GIANT and really active) lab puppy tearing everything up right now,
and a sweet grandbaby who is loving his independence and is now walking. So, up high everything goes for now!

I knew I wanted to use a mainly red and white theme this year, as in year’s past I have had a very colorful tree with lots
of hot pink, aqua etc… So this year, it’s a little more rustic/cabin retreat than it has been in the past.

How to make a Chalkboard Globe {Holiday Edition}

How to make a Chalkboard Globe twelveOeightblog.com #chalkboardglobe #potterybarnknockoff #diyglobe #diychalkboard

Do you ever think about how very huge our world is, yet so small at the same time?
We are all part of something so much greater than ourselves, interlinked, equally loved and valued
by our Creator.  On a planet so strong yet so delicately balanced to sustain life.

It’s awesome, and wonderful to think about.

Some of us are very far away from loved ones, and it sure is hard to think about not being with
them when we think of carving turkeys or watching our favorite Holiday movies each year.

Looking at this globe each day, knowing we all stare up at the same moon and stars made me feel
that much closer to loved ones miles away.

I picked up this globe for just under $10 at Goodwill recently, and while that’s more than I usually try
to spend on an upcycle, I had this exact project in mind.

And I didn’t want to paint my grandfather’s globe either, so in the cart she went. [Read more…]

Red + White Buffalo Check Christmas Light Garland

 Red and White Buffalo Check Christmas Garland #garland #redandwhite #Christmasdecor #Christmaslights #diy #craft #rustic #twelveOeightblog

In the spirit of all things red and white this year (I cannot wait to show you the tree, but it’s not done yet so give me a few more days!)
I wanted to have a garland that I could hang anywhere that glowed in all of it’s red and white goodness and just
makes you happy each time you walk by it.

I have seen ping pong ball covered lights before for other types of garlands, but I wanted to try making a Christmas Garland
out of one.

Inspiration struck on a recent trip to Michael’s, when I found strings of red and white mini lights.
My heart went pitter patter and I knew exactly what I would do with them.

Well, kind of. And that never happens so it was awesome! [Read more…]

Modern Holiday Photo Cards + a Minted Giveaway!! {2 winners}

(Please note this giveaway has closed 11/19 winners have been announced at the bottom of the post)

The Holiday Season is by far my favorite time of year.
It’s special because you know it doesn’t last forever, time is precious.

Seeing friends and family come together and enjoy a night full of homemade soup and movies.
Or maybe looking at Christmas lights, or just staying in and staying warm by the fire.
This time of year means many different things for all of us, and gift giving is on the mind more
and more as the big day approaches.

A gift that I have always appreciated and enjoyed all year is a card from someone I love.

A photo card that I can look at all year, and remember the smiling faces looking back at me.

Like these photo cards above and below, both turned into magnetic gifts, brilliant!!!

How to Make a Glitter House Village {the easy way}

How to make glitter houses twelveOeightblog.com #glitterhouse #putz #dollarstore #Christmas #diy #twelveOeightblog

Does the thought of having a your own Glitter House Village sound wonderful?

It has to me too for a couple years now.

And I have thought about different ways I could construct cardboard glitter houses,
But schedules are busy this time of year, and it’s hard enough to sometimes
balance it all and have time to create and craft too.

Let alone build a teeny village while keeping little hands from grabbing one
and running around like crazy folk.

So the idea went on the back burner until I came across a pretty but kind of faded
Victorian style house at Goodwill.  It was $6.99, and I brought it home and left it
on the kitchen counter for a couple days. [Read more…]

DIY Winter Wreath + Christmas inspiration for this year

 diy winter wreath 1

Do you ever have one of those years that you want to change like everything about your Christmas decor?
I have surveyed what we have, and the good news I think I can get my tree to be fabulous for another year.
That is with a few zip ties and possibly a couple pounds of hot glue.
But we are going to cover that baby in ornaments and lights, and hope for the best!

I have priced out the tree I want and part of me says… “you should get that, you need it”
and the more thrifty, rational side counters, “you are a DIY home blogger, um.. fix the stinking tree already!”

Well, the savings couldn’t be squandered so, I have been checking Goodwill a couple times a week,
and hit Michael’s last week with some sa-weet sales going on.  Throw in some Dollar Tree finds and
I think I will be able to pull off a whole new look this year without spending a lot.
