Little pink (Christmas) houses for you and me

If you give a girl some glitter…

And a group of Dollar Tree Christmas houses…

And she happens to have some pink spray paint…

Then…

Well, this happens.

And a new pink, sparkly Christmas Cottage community is created.

I don’t know about you, but I could live there.

It’s almost a public service if you bring happiness to others with glitter don’t you think?

Christmas Spaces Tour: Our Mid-Century Modern

Hello friends!

It’s that time of year when life seems to go into lightning speed mode as the holidays approach, and all I want to do is turn on my Christmas lights and make cocoa!

As simple as I hoped to keep things this year, being the first year in our “new” to us home, a 1978 mid century modern home, I may have not stuck to those plans entirely.

Are  you feeling the pull to fluff your nest and make your spaces in your home as warm and cozy as possible?

I am excited to be part of this Christmas Spaces Tour with some great blogging friends who are SO creative! Make sure you take a moment to stop by each of their beautiful blogs and see what they are up to 🙂

My Christmas space to share today is our Living Room in our new home.  We bought our house this summer and boy has it been a whirlwind of projects and more than one night falling asleep with your painting clothes on! [Read more…]

DIY Frosted Paper Magnolia Wreath

I love wreaths.

And I didn’t realize how many I had (similar to the shock when you survey how many craft supplies you have amassed or what your hoard of furniture to paint looks like) until we moved this year.

Knowing that I could make more, and some of them had been stored haphazardly with skate boards leaned against them and a Barbie dream house crowding them out in our garage, I let some of them go.

It was really freeing, and yes I have a couple things looking back thru the exhaustion of the move and unpacking that I kick myself for getting rid of.

But, alas, armed with a glue gun, some paper and a few other supplies, I was able to replenish my wreath hoard this weekend.

I kept thinking about a magnolia wreath, and I knew I wanted to use this kraft paper cardstock I picked up when it was on sale.

So this is the version of a DIY Magnolia Wreath that I came up with.

How to make a barn door style planter box

I don’t know about you but I am sooooo ready for warmer weather, longer days, and FLOWERS!

I love to plant grasses & flowers around our patio and porch and cluster them together here and there.

They are so easy to take care of and I like how many different groupings I can put together with containers of different height and size.

We recently wanted to make a new catch all box to go by our back door for shoes, but we ended up making this pretty big.

And so it’s smaller cousin will be by the back door full of flip flops etc..

And this lovely lady (who holds some faux plants now but not for long) will be the new home to a grouping of topiaries I have had my eye on.

Farmhouse style laundry room makeover reveal!

This makeover was a long time coming, and I am so super excited to share it with you!

Our laundry room has no natural light, and it’s under the stairs so the angles are challenging.

We began by gutting the room & giving it a nice deep clean.

Initially we were going to use a paint that is a bit darker with more blue, but ended up opting for a light grey.

With a busy family of five, and lots of laundry to do each week, we knew we wanted a laundry folding station. [Read more…]

DIY kraft paper farmhouse wreath

This post has been way too many days in the making.

I love how this easy wreath turned out that I made recently for my front door.

It was fun, thrifty and I was able to use supplies I already had!

Perfect for a rainy day when you want to stay in your comfies and not have to leave the house right?

I used a foam wreath form that I already had (it had flannel wrapped around it from a while ago) torn s [Read more…]

DIY faux tiled laundry folding station

I am sure you have heard the story of the frog in the boiling water.

You know…

When things begin he is just a frog living his frog life and finds himself in some water.

In this case it’s a laundry room, not a pot of boiling water, but the analogy is accurate.

Over time, and stuff, and more time, and lots more stuff, our laundry room had become a messy place that you could barely step into.

It was a pot of boiling water and I was tired of looking at this less than inspiring space.

For a while now we have talked about building a folding station on top of the washer and dryer.

So after a bit of planning, and two different wall colors, we have the folding station done, a pretty new wool rug on the floor, and the ideas for shelving are coming together.

Squeal, I am SO loving this space now!

Romantic farmhouse style master bedroom

Hi friend,  this post has been a long time coming.

Not only because our master bedroom was in desperate need of a makeover, but also from the five of us taking turns with a couple nasty colds the past couple of months.

We appear to be on the mend, the sun is out today, and it’s time to share (finally!) the progress we have made.

Since most of us are never really “done” and I kind of think that is part of the fun, watching our homes change and evolve, I will share with you what is done and what I am working on.

Before there was a giant treadmill in the bedroom, and to say it was gathering dust would be a fair statement. [Read more…]

Laundry room makeover progress

Our laundry room had become a very messy place, and was less than fun to spend time in.

That is until we were inspired to gut the laundry room and do the deepest deep clean in modern history.

I like to think of myself as a fairly neat person.

But.

At some point we lost control and the laundry room became a scary place to run a load of laundry and get out of there before a tower of board games toppled you.

Or you just simply became disoriented.

And…..to top it all off, it had become boring.

Right?

Worst. Fate. Ever.

Borings-ville is what this already challenging laundry room has rocked for a bit now.

It’s an under-the-stairs laundry room that is a pretty small space as it is.

So, needless to say, that makes the makeover that much better!

Here are some of the things I am incorporating as I wait for the paint to dry.

I can’t wait for you to see it!

We have a white front loading washer in dryer in great condition so they are staying put.

But…the walls, are going to have a coat of this on them.

Quick Farmhouse style Valentine decor

It doesn’t seem like we have completely recovered from Christmas and Valentine’s Day is almost here!

I don’t decorate a lot for Valentine’s Day, but I like to choose one spot to create a thoughtful sweet space, that’s perhaps a bit more frilly than usual.

When the rain arrived early this winter, our white church pew came into the living room to keep it safe from the elements.

The thought of finding another one for free, convincing my husband that we needed to go get a 12 foot church pew in 100 degree weather, and drag it home is too much to bear.

So inside she came.

I used some French script cardstock, and cut out hearts with holes punched in the top and strung by jute twine. [Read more…]
