The Best Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Hi friends!

Happy middle of the week to you, I hope you are staying toasty warm and not too snowbound in some
parts of the US.  On the West coast it’s crazy to imagine as much snow as folks in New England
and surrounding areas have received!

We’ve actually had a few sunny, dry days here and I have seen the first daffodils spring up here
and there.  That always gets me through the final tail end of the rainy season.
Which sometimes lasts until the beginning of JULY.

Because of all of the craziness of unpredictable February weather, I decided (I didn’t
think you would mind) that we could make cookies today.

My criteria for making cookies is as follows: It has to be one of the following days of the week, Sunday
through Saturday, they have to be easy, and they have to taste like more.

If the recipe meets all three strict criteria, this girl is making cookies. [Read more…]

Warm Coconut Sugar Scrub Recipe

Coconut Sugar Scrub Recipe #sugarscrub #howtomakebodyscrub #diysugarscrub #scrubrecipe #twelveOeightblog

It’s the middle of February and many of us are ready for some sun and a break from
bitter cold temperatures.  Y’all back East are covered in many feet of snow, and we have
had enough rain for a century in the Pacific Northwest.

One thing for sure is, our hands and feet get especially dry this time of year.

I spend so much of my time painting, sanding or hammering stuff that my cuticles and
hands tend to look pretty sad at the end of the day.

Coconut oil is one of my favorite oils to cook with and has tons of awesome health benefits
as well.  So I figured I could make a body scrub out of it too.

I am glad I did, after just a day of using it a couple times at the kitchen sink, my palms are
soft and cuticles don’t look like the Sahara! [Read more…]

Gingerbread Mini Loaf Recipe

Gingerbread Recipe #gingerbread #baking #ChristmasBread #glutenfree #holidayrecipes #twelveOeightblog

Do you love gingerbread all year long?

Me too.

When the gingerbread spice lattes hit Starbucks, I just cannot get enough of them.
Well, ok the same goes for pumpkin too, but that’s a given.

One of my favorite ways to share the sweets and baked goodness of Christmas is to wrap a
mini loaf and deliver it to neighbors and friends, wishing them everything good and wonderful
for their holiday season.

Molasses is the star of this sweet and a little spicy gingerbread recipe.  And I found it (and made a few changes)
from the best source.  The Brer Rabbit site, which might I add is chock full of wonderful recipes.  I love to add
molasses to my BBQ sauce, so I have to remember molasses all year long can be wonderful!

Here is what I used to make these sweet little loaves, and how I packaged them.

Each loaf wrapped in waxed paper, nestled in a little paper plate basket (see below) and tied with a pretty

ribbon.  It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Simple, thoughtful & so pretty! [Read more…]

Gifts In A Mason Jar: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

 Cookie Mix Gift In A Jar #MasonJar #GiftInAJar #CookieMix #OatmealCookie #OatmealChocolateChip #MasonJarGifts #twelveOeightblog

Hi there!

Well, it’s almost Thanksgiving friends, and I know many of you will be cooking and stuffing, and very busy the next couple
days.  At our house the Christmas music will be playing, and Santa’s little workshop will be in high gear while Thursday’s
turkey is simmering in the slow cooker and will become our yearly Turkey Rice Soup.

With a bunch of leftovers to work on for days, I like to spend the weekend after Thanksgiving working on homemade gifts.
And drinking a lot of coffee.  And cocoa.
And hitting “play” again on my favorite Bing Crosby Christmas collection. [Read more…]

So we may not be thinking about wrapping gifts quite yet.

But if you perhaps were the type of gift wrapper who say, chooses a theme some years.

Or maybe happened to fall in love with some gift wrap and bought like, oh, I don’t know…17 rolls.

Because you were worried about running out.

And not having a wrap fail again.

What if you got halfway through wrapping and there was only Spongebob gift wrap left, and Patrick
was decorated like a starfish tree, and the remaining bows were smushed.

And the only tags you had left were teeny pieces of gift wrap with a piece of mangled tape holding them in place.
And the Grandparents look lovingly at your kids and ask “Did you help Mama wrap gifts?”

Ummm….no. [Read more…]
