How to Make Spiderweb Cupcakes

spiderweb cupcakes 4

I made these this weekend for our grown-ups Halloween party and they were a hit!

The kids love to get all dressed up, and Halloween is usually all about trick or treating, sorting, trading candy
and seeing what everyone else is dressed up as.

I thought in addition to our usual festivities it would be fun this year to have a night just for the grown
ups.  To plan out a costume, get all ready (it kind of makes you feel that excitement you felt as a kid)
brave the wind and rain, and spend the Saturday before Halloween with your closest friends.

So much fun.

And I wanted something sweet, that was gluten free as well for us to enjoy.
You can use your favorite cupcake recipe, a mix, or store bought un-frosted cupcakes to save on time.
These are super easy, but they look like they took much longer than they really did (the best option.) [Read more…]

Candy Corn + Popcorn Treats To Share

Halloween treat 1

Can you believe Halloween is only 2 weeks away?
Neither can I!

Sometimes I like to have a basket of special treats to give family and friends as they visit and trick or treat with us on
Halloween.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying popcorn and candy corn together, this treat you can hand out
is the perfect time to get your craft on, and eat something yummy.  But before we bust out the paint brushes and glue
guns, did you know that Mod Podge is available in a Glow In The Dark formula?

I know, it’s changing how I will be carving pumpkins and prepping my porch this year for sure!

DIY Black + White Halloween Projects

diy black and white Halloween Projects

Mysterious, beautiful, dark and kind of spooky.  Elegant, glam, and rustic all
at the same time.

Black and white painted pumpkins and Halloween decor is chic, modern, and oh so everywhere.

Here are some of my favorite ideas that have me inspired right now, and a few of our own creations too!! [Read more…]

Black Pumpkins, succulents + glitter

I don’t decorate a lot for Halloween, instead I add a few Halloween touches to my Fall Decor,
and it usually looks just perfect for Halloween.  Then the spooky and pretty things get tucked away
and we wait until close to Thanksgiving to start all over again for Christmas.

Then, well, you know.  It’s full on Christmas insanity and like you, I love every minute of it!
But for now, it’s all about sparkly and spooky things that go bump in the night.
This year I decided to try a few different things and do a Halloween vignette in my entry.
The gold mirror has been put away, and in it’s place, this bright white frame with a nice
big chalkboard inside.

DIY no-sew Trick or Treat Bag

no sew trick or treat bag

Disclosure: I have been compensated for this post, however all opinions are truthful and my own.

I had you at “no-sew” huh?
I can’t believe Halloween arrived so quickly for us this year, well maybe not the day itself yet, but certainly the
planning/making/hot-gluing etc… I was super excited when I had the chance to use  Tulip glow paint recently to create a
Halloween craft and share it with you! My boys are leaning a little more towards zombies this year, but Abbie will
still let me be all girly with her this time of year.  That is when she isn’t chasing zombies with her big brothers.

She helped me choose a trick or treat bag that is just her style, will hold a ton of candy, glow in the dark
AND even show up under black light.
I know, and you know that we have one party a year that has a black light.  She is going to be so excited when she
realizes that the pink bow on her bag is glowing like crazy!

Here is what I used to make this super easy Hello Kitty Trick or Treat Bag: [Read more…]

How to decorate your Halloween Glasses with vinyl!!

Brooke has done it again, I am in LOVE with these super cute, thrifty and easy Halloween glasses!!

Hello twelveOeight readers!  And happy October to you all!  October posts are always the easiest ones for me.  I could probably do Halloween-related posts all year long, and not get sick of them.  It is my favorite holiday (well maybe tied with Christmas) and the creative, spooky projects seem to be endless!

DIY Vinyl Halloween Glasses from Blissful Roots

Today I wanted to share a simple way to add a bit of Halloween fright to your glassware.  I always love to check out Pottery Barn Kids Halloween tabletops each year.  I gaze and gaze at their amazing set ups, but for some reason the glasses always catch my eye.  But, being the thrifty crafter that I am, I can’t bring myself to pay the price they want (one of these years I’m going to catch them on clearance, and not feel guilty about buying them!).  My glasses are somewhat simple in comparison to theirs, but you fill the glass with an orange drink, or anything else orange, black, and white and you can’t even tell.

DIY Painted Sugar Skull

how to paint a sugar skull

I have a heavy influence of Spanish and Native American art and history in my artistic psyche, probably since I
grew up in a community with both cultures represented via food, art, and music, they are interests that I find
myself continually drawn to.

And, I love bright colors, and sometimes a well-placed fake flower too.
Today’s project is something I have been longing to do, and never found the right medium.
Until a Dollar Tree trip to pick up a few things, and I scored this skull door-knocker. [Read more…]
