County Fair Caramel Apple Milkshake

When I was a little girl, we celebrated Fall in a few different ways.

The first was buttoning up the garden for winter, and storing all of the squash and potatoes we grew over the summer in
hay bales or in our basement.  It also began to really feel like Fall when leaves crunched underfoot, walking home from
a friends house after school, with the smell of wood smoke from the neighbor’s wood stove in the air.

But in case I wasn’t ready for Fall quite yet, one thing always made me feel like Fall was upon us, and that was the Caramel
Apples we could buy at the County Fair.   With local Washington apples on the end of every stick, dipped in rich
homemade caramel, and set out on paper to dry.  Those Caramel Apples were a treat to look forward to every time.

I will admit, I don’t make a lot of them around casa twelveOeight these days, but we do love a good milkshake.  So I
decided I would blend two of my favorite things in the world, those Caramel Apples from the County Fair, and ice cream!

They are fast to make too, we shared one of these today right after the last picture had been taken, and it didn’t take long!

Here is what I used to make my Caramel Apple Milkshakes (County Fair style of course…)
