Cozy Sweater Wreath + a HUGE Christmas Home Tour Party

I don’t usually post three times in one day, but I have an announcement that I cannot
wait to share!
Before I show you how I made this SUPER easy (and cheap!) Sweater Wreath,
I wanted to let you know that I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the 2013
Christmas Party Tour of Homes taking place this week!!

The Christmas Tour begins at 7pm PST and runs through Friday
December 6th, I’ll be joining 23 other bloggers to share with you how each
of us celebrate the Holidays and decorate our homes for Christmas.

Pretty fun right? I cannot WAIT!! That’s me right there on Wednesday December 4th,
I hope you will be able to join me as I share how we are making our home a cozy retreat
this winter, using thrifted finds, warm throws and lots of pillows and candlelight.  Oh, and
a big mug of hot chai or cocoa.  I hear we might` have snow this week, which makes
sharing my Christmas tour with you even more fun!

Are you ready to make something cozy to warm up your abode? Who doesn’t love a soft
sweater? But when a great sweater is accidentally put in the dryer, or has a toddler size hand
print that defies ketchup removal efforts, you can throw it out.
Or cut it up and make it pretty again ( I like this option so much better!)

Here is what I used to make this Cozy Sweater Wreath:
One straw wreath form (I left the plastic on mine to keep the straw in)
One sweater looking for a new lease on life (Mine was a $2 Gap find at Goodwill)
Hot glue
Scissors
Ribbon and little mini tree, owl or tchotchke of your liking

I removed the cuffs, front placket and buttons from the sweater first, then cut the
remainder into 3″ and 4″ wide strips.  They don’t have to be perfect, you will be
winding them around the wreath and overlapping the layers.
Beginning on one side I hot glued the end to the wreath and wrapped it around
allowing each wrap around to overlap a bit covering the straw base well.  I did this
around the entire wreath until it was covered and I was out of Gaptastic sweater strips.
Next I used a long piece of plaid ribbon to create the bow on the top, and a bit of hot
glue to secure my mini tree.

All done! How crazy easy is that right?
And the fun part, is you can change the bow if you want, or use decorations that
are a little more winter and less Christmas so you can use it all winter long.
