DIY Drop Cloth Projects with Daniela from Frugal Ain’t Cheap {guest post}

Hey everyone!
I am so excited to have Daniela here today
from Frugal Ain’t Cheap
You are going to love the DIY project
she is sharing with us today!!
~
Thank you Tanya for letting me crush your blog 🙂
If you don’t know me,
my name is Daniela.
I love to do projects that are both useful,
functional and inexpensive…better yet if free.
I also like to cook…because that’s what Italians do best.
If you are one of my followers, you know already how much
I love drop cloth.  One of the most simple things you can do to
add interest to plain drop cloth (or fabric in general)
is to add some kind of writing and/or numbers.
Stenciled Covers

Dropcloth Coasters
I have added numbers and writing to several of my projects, and truthfully,
the more you do it, the more confident you’ll feel to forget the stencils
and even free hand some of your projects.
Kitchen Towels
Back to today’s project,
this bench is located in our Master Bedroom,
at the foot of our bed.
Technically this was a coffee table.
I made a simple slipcover out of drop cloth a while back,

and now I have finally decided what I wanted to write on it.
I choose a simple writing with numbers.

For this project I did use these stencils I found for .10c for the entire stack…
For the numbers and letters I drew the outline with Sharpies,
and then filled it in with acrylic paint.
***You can also just use a sponge brush and acrylic paint***

And here is the end result…

(here is how the Master Bedroom looked like before)

So get some drop cloth, a stencil and let your creativity roll.

Hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget…
Frugal Ain’t Cheap.

Stay Frugal,
Daniela
***I calligraphy all the towels, napkins
and coasters that I sell on my Etsy shop ***

  1. I love to use dropcloths for pillows. The dropcloth my husband bought me at Loew's feels so soft after washing.

Thanks for the reminder. I have some just sitting in a cabinet waiting to be used.

  2. Hi Tanya, I have been following Daniela's blog for some-time now and I love her ideas. She is quite a talented and creative young lady.
Who among us doesn't want to save money, but still have a fashionable and charming home. Money can be used in much better ways 🙂
Thank you for honoring her incredible talents, with this post.
    Your blogging sister, Connie 🙂

  3. Hi Tanya,
You know I'm a Frugal Ain't Cheap fan! I'm still loving my dropcloth placemats and my kitchen towels from the giveaway awhile back 🙂 I've been following Daniela for quite awhile, and I always appreciate how she teaches us to add style and creativity to our homes without spending a fortune. Thanks for sharing her over here today!

  4. I do follow Daniela, and love how she personalizes things – beauty, function and personalization are key for her decor. She's a great cook as well!

  5. Tanya I also follow Daniela's blog, getting plenty of inspiration from her ideas. Daniela, your master bedroom is gorgeous if you had simply showed me the pictures without prefacing it with telling me it was a basement I never would have known. The dropcloth looks very nice on that table, the plain table wouldn't look right in your beautiful room.

  6. I always enjoy seeing your drop cloth projects. You do such a good job making them stylish and classic at the same time. Hmmmm…….wonder what the date represents??? (LOL) I love how that turned out. Your bedroom is very pretty. Love the neutral colors you used.

  7. I was happy when I discovered blogs and that people made things out of drop cloths. I've made table runners, curtains, cushion covers out of drop cloths and love how they turn out. Easier than working with burlap, none of the mess and itchiness from the burlap. I am allergic I guess to some degree to burlap.
I have been inspired by this great post and will make kitchen towels out of

  8. I love Daniela's projects! Yes, She is a master with drop cloths but I also love what she does with wood! She can fix almost anything in her home and I like that she does it the frugal way!

  9. Dearest Tanya,
You did sum it up appropriately in the end; thanks for sharing your talent with us!
Daniela has talent and she is using it in such a frugal and intelligent way and always being considerate of the environment too. This looks really nice, compared to what it used to look like it is incredible.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
