DIY Felt Christmas Trees

Happy December friends! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend to my
fellow US friends, and a wonderful weekend for everyone outside the US too.
I spent the weekend with family and friends, eating good food and enjoying some
(ok a lot) of shopping and decorating too.  If you decorate for the Holidays when do
you usually put up your tree? Ours went up about a week ago, and remaining items
over the Thanksgiving weekend.  Here is another project I put together for the top of
our long bookcase that runs the length of our living room.  I just cannot get enough
Christmas stuff, I love it!

I found myself with a surplus of felt, especially white felt recently and have wanted to

make some mini trees out of fabric for a while now.  I used some sweet JoAnn’s app
coupons to buy two Styrofoam cones, and the stands they are on are galvanized tins
you can find anywhere.  I think these are from IKEA.
Here is what you need to make a couple of loopy white felt trees:

Two Styrofoam cones (12″ & 14″ tall)
20-25 sheets of felt in color of your choice
Hot glue
Stands for trees if desired

I covered each tree with felt first, by wrapping and hot gluing a couple pieces
of felt around each cone.  They don’t have to be perfect, it’s mostly just to
cover up the color and texture of the cone.

Next fold remaining pieces of felt lengthwise and cut strips from the fold to the outer
edge leaving about 1/2″ uncut.

Begin at the bottom and work your way up to the top of each tree, wrapping the loopy
pieces around and tacking them down with a bit of hot glue as you go.

What kinds of projects do you have going right now? If you are totally caught up and
done with your shopping, I want to be like you when I grow up.  Until then I seem to
pick away at it until oh, about December 24th!

Love these trees!! I have some cardboard trees sitting in my closet waiting for something to be done to them …
Just might have to give this a try.
    Happy HOlidays!

SO pretty, Tanya!!! Love the entire vignette.
My tree went up over the weekend 🙂 I'm a wait-till-after-Thanksgiving type but next year I'm going to start earlier so that I have more time with my tree!

Hi there! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against hackers?
I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any recommendations?
