DIY Glitter Owls

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Are you Black Friday or shopping or staying home and crafting all day tomorrow?  I am finishing up my Christmas decorating and Santa’s workshop is in full swing now.  Creating and making gifts, goodies and a few fun things for the twelveOeight house too.

Is it safe to say that we all love glitter? My Sister In Law found these super cute owls for me before Halloween, and I love them.  But I wanted to be able to use them during the holidays (and maybe all year!) so they received some spray paint and glitter love, what do you think? You could use ceramic or paper mache owls to get the same look too.  If you don’t happen to have an orange and purple owl on hand.

I started by giving each of them two good coats of silver spray paint.  Next I used a good coat of silver glitter to make them really sparkle…

Ooooh, pretty! My daughter Abbie who is 2 years old calls them “buneez” I need to get a picture of her pulling the “buneez” off the shelf to play with them when mama is not looking 🙂

I used some brown card stock from the scrap booking area at Jo Ann’s, a few diamond accents for eyes, and my favorite craft scissors to shape each eye.  Once I had them just right, I glued the diamond in place with a little hot glue, slightly curved the paper in around the edges, and glued each eye in place.

They are sitting in my kitchen windowsill right now, next to this boxwood topiary, little red bird and chalkboard (of course).  I am loving them so much, I think I need to find a resource for more owls, these were really fun and easy to make too.

Have a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving, and please know how thankful I am for you.  I love each of your comments and really appreciate the time you take to read what I share.

Hugs & blessings
xoxo, Tanya
