DIY neutral beaded vases

You guys!

I was thrilled to find these vases this summer at one of our local Goodwill stores, I think I paid $10 bucks for the pair (EVEN BETTER!) I filled them with pretty Fall stems and enjoyed them so much.

I tucked them away for the holidays, and when I brought them back out I kept thinking about all of the gorgeous (McGee & Co. , Hearth and Home, Pottery Barn) neutral elements in home decor right now.

Not really feeling the warm stained-wood vibe at this point for these guys I decided to use some Fusion Mineral Paint I bought, the color is Algonquin, and it is so pretty!

I liked them painted but thought (being a bit of a maximalist) that they needed a little something more.

Have you had a moment like that, listening to your favorite music and working on a project, and that little extra zing is just what was needed?

In this case it was necklaces for these two, I used a variety of unfinished wood beads from the craft store and raffia.

So the vibe stayed super neutral and natural and have been moving them all over the house.

I cannot decide if they are landing on the dining room table or and end table in the living room right now. But no matter where these guys land they look good I love them!

You can recreate this look with any kind of vases or containers that you can dig up at home or at your local thrift store. And the rest is really easy, a good mineral or chalk paint (you may have some on hand already) some beads and raffia or twine and you’ve got this.

Some of my favorite projects do not involve anything too complicated or expensive, I always decorate with the goal for how I want our home to feel in mind.

Warm and cozy…

I love trying new things and one of the easiest ways to do it is to look around our homes and see what we can spiff up. We have lots of plants, and I made this last year by hot gluing an unraveled mop head to the edge of a large basket and added some thrifted trim! Check out the project here 🙂

Creating a cozy home that I truly don’t like to leave is one of my favorite hobbies. It’s my heart really, and welcoming friends and loved ones to share meals and memories is so important to me.

I have worked on each space in our home with comfort and durability in mind. Distressed coffee table? No problem, every time we put our feet up and watch a movie it looks better and better 🙂

Each morning I get up and read a bit while I drink my coffee, light my favorite candles and turn on a whole lot of lamps and battery operated candles. It warms our home in these darker, cloudy months and makes me feel as cozy as can be.

We look for materials we can reuse or use the rest of in a different way. Our wooden beam is wrapped in wood flooring left over from renovating a client’s home. The white-washed wood above the fireplace we did the same thing! By just painting it with white chalk paint thinned with a bit of water we got the look we wanted. Before this hearth was a dark (1980’s) cedar with long mirrors. We lived with it for a while but I still love how this turned out. On a budget too!

Soft blankets, fluffy pillows, worn pieces from the past and a few modern touches all can come together in a way to create the best cozy version of home.
