Easy Painted Tile Coasters

We are getting closer and closer to the big day, only
two days until my daughter’s backyard wedding.
We have spent the day cleaning the garden and yard,
and I plan on busting out the glue gun and turning into
a bunting-making machine.

But I had enough time to make some cute new outdoor
drink coasters for the patio last night.  They were super
easy and I love the way they turned out.

Here is what you need to bring some bright color to your
patio tabletop or anywhere you need a pretty new
coaster.  I think these would make a really thoughtful
hostess gift too.

Supplies:
Basic white tiles (I found mine at Home Depot for .16 each!)
Sharpie pens in a variety of colors
Hot glue
Felt for the back of the coaster
Poly-crylic matte spray sealer

Directions:
I began by drawing a big rose on each coaster free hand,
and surrounded it by pretty green leaves and a bright blue
background.  Next I used orange and yellow on one, and red
and pink on the other to color and fill in the space to create
the flower.  Leaving a few areas white, and the variation in
color makes the coasters look hand painted.

After each tile was dry, I cut a piece of felt for the back
slightly smaller than the tile and hot-glued it onto the bottom
to prevent scratching on a table top.  I used a coat of poly-crylic
on the top of each tile and allowed it to dry well.

Voila! Pretty new coasters for your home or patio!

Until next time,
