Easy Spring Tote Bag

I love everything about Springtime.  It’s so fun to break out some sandals, and light sweaters, but the best part about
Spring dressing has to be all of the pretty accessories.  I love to pick up a few new pairs of earrings, a bright scarf, and
sometimes even make a tote bag.  That’s exactly what I decided to do when I received some awesome  i love to create
products recently by Tulip.
When I tried out the Tulip Fabric Markers I knew was I was going to make.  I have been wanting to try making kind of
an ikat/chevron design, and so far I just haven’t liked anything I came up with.  The paint hasn’t dried fast enough or
dried a darker color than I had hoped.  But these fun, bright neons dry exactly like the tube color.  Loved them.

Here is what I used to make this Easy Spring Tote Bag:

  • Canvas tote bag
  • i love to create Fabric Markers by Tulip
  • Chevron stencil and masking tape to hold in place
  • Bright colors of ric-rac
  • hot glue or liquid fabric adhesive
  • two clothing studs

I began by using the bright yellow across the entire top line, then again on the top half of every line after that.
Next, I used the green, orange and pink to use small brush strokes and fill in the missing area on each line.  It was
really easy and quickly turned into kind of an ikat/brush stroke design.

Once I was done with the painted portion of the project, I attached the square studs to the front of the tote bag with
fabric adhesive.  To create the yellow flower I used a few feet of yellow ric-rac and wound it around in a cirle, tacking
it down as I went with fabric adhesive.  For the leaves, I used three pieces of light green ric-rac and attached the ends
just under the flower edge, and under each “leaf” so they would hold in place.

You can find these exclusive products at your local Michaels Arts & Crafts store.   If you don’t have a Michaels store in your area, you can order the products at iLoveToCreate.com.  iLoveToCreate.com is currently offering free shipping on any neon Tulip product for the month of February when you use coupon code NeonFEB (ends February 28th).

This just shouts SPRING and here in the UK with the storms and floods we really need a bit of that! Yesterday we actually saw bit big bright yellow thing in the sky, nearly fainted with shock! Today we are back to grey 🙁

We have had a bit of sun here but not sure how long it will last, our weather sounds similar Julie! At least we can have happy projects that keep us excited for spring. Have a great day- xo
