Hello summer paper medallion wreath

wreath, wreath ideas, diy wreath, paper wreath, summer wreath

I knew I couldn’t kick off summer without a new wreath.
It’s just not right.

I wanted to make something a bit whimsical.
Something that says “I am fun, bright, a little crazy and will remind you to have fun.”
And not to take ourselves to seriously, because, well…that is boring and the last thing we want is boring.

So, with a little search thru my craft supply hoard, and a quick trip to Jo-Ann’s, I give you
my favorite wreath yet.
A wreath made of paper, string, and glue.
I’m excited to be taking part in ProFlowers Wreaths All Year project, because we all love wreaths,
and I personally just cannot have enough of them.

I am still working on my summer backyard decor, and have been so busy working on a few projects
inside that my front porch is pretty hum drum.  It needs something pretty to make the front door
pop, and say “come on it, welcome to the party!”

This is super easy, ready to make pretty stuff together?

Here is what I used:

supplies

  • Sturdy cardstock in colors/patterns of your choice (I like the 12″ x 12″ size)
  • Extra piece of cardstock for banner
  • Letters for banner (I used two packages from the $1 bin at Jo-Ann’s)
  • Baker’s twine, hot glue, scissors

directions

I began by folding rectangular pieces of cardstock in an accordion style, about 1″ wide.
Once you make the first few pieces and fold them in half (see below) you will get a feel for
how big you want to make each one.  Each accordion fold is folded in half, then glued together
to become 1/4 of each medallion.

Once you have all of your pieces made, you can combine colors, patterns, or keep them the same.
Get down with your bad self, it’s your sassy wreath and you have to love the results!

Arrange your medallions in a circle, overlapping them and once you have the shape that you want, use
your hot glue to attach and secure them together.  Cut small pieces of the remaining piece of cardstock
out, attach letter (I like to use the pre-glued letters, easy!!) and glue to string to the back of each.

Attach the ends of the string behind the medallions with this or your own fab summer slogan, and you
my friend are in business!!

Wasn’t that easy? Oh the possibilities! I would love to hear how you would put yours together and what
kind of “holla” you would use 🙂

    1. My first ones were a huge flop, I thought I was making them right, but it took seeing how a friend made hers for me. Thanks so much Jeanette!!
