The evenings are getting chilly here in Washington, and the kids keep asking me when we are going to make hot cocoa.
Not just the packet (which tastes really good too!) but the works.

Hot chocolate, whipping cream, caramel syrup, marshmallows, sprinkles, candy canes…oh the possibilities!

And the excitement.

I think that’s one of the reasons that I love this time of year so much.
It’s probably not the rain, and the muddy paws.
The sun we don’t see for a while, or the occasional ice storm.
Those all seem to just go along with winter in our neck of the woods.

But the part I love, cherish and encourage in my kids is the magic.

The excitement and anticipation of the weeks to come, gathering with family and friends.
Roasting a big turkey, and baking lots of cookies.
Decorating the house, and secret trips to go meet with Santa and let him know what is on each of their lists.
I remember our Christmas tree growing up, it was so exciting to help my Grandpa carry all of the lights and
boxes of Shiny Brites up the stairs from the basement each year.  Stringing the lights, placing each ornament
in just the right spot, and watching the lights twinkle and bubble lights bubble.

I’m pretty sure my kids love the process as much as I always have, and we try to find some new traditions too,
that we all enjoy and look forward to.

A spot to prepare hot cocoa can be as elaborate or simple as you like.  Ours is usually just a basket we can move around
depending on what project we have going on (whatever is covering the counter tops and making it impossible to make
anything.)

I hope your toes are cozy and warm, and this little chalkboard printable finds it way into a frame or on a clipboard for
you to enjoy all winter.  Blessings to you friend!
