How To Make A Chunky Beaded Necklace {easy make-ahead gift!}

I know we are all on some sort of budget each year at Christmas, and doesn’t everyone gal you know LOVE getting jewelry? When it comes to beaded jewelry, you can create a very simple yet fun piece like this in about 20 minutes! This does not have to be expensive either, I use a mix of pottery, plastic and glass beads to create a light choker style necklace for less than $10.

Measure around your own neck first to see where a necklace would sit well on the recipient.  A choker that is not snug, but rests on the collar bone lightly is classic and super hot this season.

A few little findings, a handful of fun and sassy beads, we are getting closer! After you have strung all of your beads onto your tiger tail wire, follow the directions below to complete your fabulous new necklace.  The font is ending up really small in order to fit, but the pictures walk you thru the next steps pretty well.  The crimp bead goes on one end after you have finished stringing all of your beads.  Next the lobster claw, then you take the wire and run it back thru the crimp bead and pull the end to make a small loop, pinch firmly with needle nose pliers.  Do the same on the other end and leave a small loop on that end for the lobster claw to grab ahold of when you want to connect the two ends.  Pinch the other crimp bead with your pliers and you are done.

If you are new to making your own jewelry you are probably wondering why you didn’t start before now? I did too when I taught myself years ago (no Internet and my first bracelet was not exactly attractive upon completion).  But that is the rule of crafting, keep trying and don’t give up.  We ALL have projects that go sideways!

Guess what? We just made one of your Christmas gifts.  I know cool huh? I bet you want to make more and be like uber-prepared this year? Well good, like I mentioned earlier this week, I will share everything I make this year, all thrifty and easy to make gifts.
I am so excited about YOUR necklace now that I think I need to go make another one before the little’s wake up from naps…

So are you a midnight shopper, plan ahead shopper or a little of both this year? Let me know what you are working on, and if you have some things you would like to see, give me a shout out!

Thank you as always for reading, hugs & blessings from my home to yours,

xoxo, Tanya

    Pretty necklace! Thanks for the tutorial. I've never made jewelry before but you are making me want to!

    I am most definitely a midnight shopper! I was a little better last year, though, because it is stressful to take it down to the wire. Lists are my friends 🙂
