If you love chevron, wreaths, and fall, then we are going to have a fab time getting crafty today. And, you will end up with an inexpensive super cute new fall wreath!
I have really enjoyed my yellow and white chevron pillows in my living room all spring and summer, but they are all getting a little makeover. I will have updated pics of my new pillows soon. They aren’t really new. They are being re-covered for the 743rd time. Approximately. But the colors of my fall fabric remind me of the rich fall colors of the felt in the wreath we are making. Enough gab 😉 let’s get this wreath made.
Supplies:
One Pool Noodle or wreath base
Tape
Hot glue & scissors
15-20 (9″ x 12″) felt pieces in fall colors
(I used three of each color: brown, yellow, sage, dark red, and gold
1/2 yard of burlap (for burlap roses) directions on how to make burlap roses are
here
Extra piece of coordinating yarn
2 fall picks, I chose fall berries
Directions:
I connected the ends of the pool noodle with tape, firmly securing each end together, this made the perfect sized wreath base. For the chevron felt strips, I cut each piece of felt into three pieces so they were 4″ across the top and 9″ long. I then folded each strip in half (to save time) using good sewing scissors I cut a large zig-zag pattern (see picture above.) Then I chose the color pattern I wanted to use, and set the pieces in stacks in order and glued the first piece around the wreath base. Working my way all around the wreath, overlapping and gluing each strip in place, I ended up using all of my felt perfectly.
Once I was done applying the felt strips, I used a piece or coordinating yarn, wrapping it around the area I wanted to tuck in my fall floral picks into. By doing this I have found I am able to avoid using hot glue to hold them down. They stay in place better and I save about four glue sticks, it’s a win-win. After the fall berries were in place. I glued on on my
burlap roses, and on the back of the wreath attached a small strip of felt with hot glue to use as a hanger.
And that’s it! I hung it on the door to my pantry and I was able to complete it in less than hour, including the complicated process of convincing my three year old to sacrifice his pool noodle for the sake of the blog. It’s a family thing here, they are all very supportive of the crafting we do together. I also promised him a mini-shopping spree to the Dollar Tree, which may have helped a bit.
Happy creating & hugs, Tanya
