How to Make Spiderweb Cupcakes

spiderweb cupcakes 4

I made these this weekend for our grown-ups Halloween party and they were a hit!

The kids love to get all dressed up, and Halloween is usually all about trick or treating, sorting, trading candy
and seeing what everyone else is dressed up as.

I thought in addition to our usual festivities it would be fun this year to have a night just for the grown
ups.  To plan out a costume, get all ready (it kind of makes you feel that excitement you felt as a kid)
brave the wind and rain, and spend the Saturday before Halloween with your closest friends.

So much fun.

And I wanted something sweet, that was gluten free as well for us to enjoy.
You can use your favorite cupcake recipe, a mix, or store bought un-frosted cupcakes to save on time.
These are super easy, but they look like they took much longer than they really did (the best option.)

Supplies:

One dozen Devil’s Food Cupcakes (homemade or store bought) unfrosted

One container of whipped vanilla frosting

One tube of black cake and cookie icing (Wilton makes a glittered variety too!)

Toothpicks

Small knife or spatula to spread frosting

Directions:

Begin by frosting your cupcakes with the white frosting.

Then one by one add first a large dot in the center of the cupcake, then a circle about half way to the edge around the dot,

then another closer to the edge.  Using a toothpick begin in the center and drag the toothpick out to the edge,  work your

way around the cupcake until the web has been created!

They are that easy 🙂

I like the way the white and black look together, and how the black icing has a slight glitter to it.

So pretty, and yummy too.

I’m not going to tell you how many of these I have had this weekend.  That’s not really important.
But they make a wonderful breakfast too the morning after a large soiree when coffee and Pinterest
are your first order of business.

The dishes can wait.

    1. Thank you Katie!! We just polished them off earlier in the week, almost too pretty to eat but we were able to chow the whole batch 🙂 xoxo

  1. Tanya, these spider-web cupcakes look AMAZING! And I’m not just randomly saying this either. I was scrolling through your site, thought to myself “This is a homemaker’s paradise website!” and then BOOM — spider-patterned cupcakes just stood out. Absolutely gorgeous technique, photography, and finishing touch. I immediately pointed it out to my wife when I saw it (She’s the real talent behind our blog, haha!).

Random thought: Imagine if the icing had a rainbow color theme to it. Pops out like crazy!

Thanks for sharing this, Tanya. Amazing stuff. 🙂

    Love from Melbourne!

  2. T1PnCL This is a really good tip especially to those fresh to the blogosphere. Brief but very accurate info Thanks for sharing this one. A must read article!
