Hello twelveOeight readers! How has your April been treating you? We have woken up to snow every morning
so far here in Utah. It’s gone by noon, but mornings look awful wintry here. I guess April showers bring May
flowers though, right? That’s what I keep telling myself!
Today, I have a fun, easy Easter craft to share today. And while it does involve glitter, I’m not glittering food
this time!
A few Octobers ago I ran across some darling party favor baskets made from
Peat Pots. I fell in love with them,
and made a bunch of them for my boys’ birthday party favors. Well, the Peat Pots looked great for a
Halloween-themed basket, and I knew they’d be just as perfect for mini Easter baskets. I love natural,
earthy tones for Easter. I don’t mind a few pastel colors here and there, but I like to stick to browns, whites,
and greens.
Here’s what you’ll need.
Peat Pots. I found mine at Walmart in their garden section (click here to see). This is the time of year to buy
them, and stock up on them if you want them for projects later in the year. They have different sizes.
Choose which you like best. The price in the link I shared is a bit high. I know I didn’t pay more than $5 for my
set of pots, but the price will vary depending on size.
White Easter Grass. I found mine at Walmart as well. If you like more color, you can find Easter grass is
just about every possible color these days, so find your favorite.
String. I used this for the little bow on the bunny’s neck. Once again, mine is very neutral, but color would be
just as beautiful.
Mini Glitter Eggs. I found these at Dollar Tree. I liked how they looked in the little basket, but you could
also use candy in the basket instead of decor.
Handle. I had an old brown gift bag that I didn’t need anymore, so I cute the handles off and used them for
my baskets. You could do the same, or use anything else you can find for a handle.
Glitter Bunny Table Scatter. I found mine at Walmart for $1. It came with bunnies and eggs, and the
colors were very bright. I chose to flip mine over and paint them white (see below), but you could use them
as is, and save yourself some time.
Hot Glue. I used it for attaching the handle to the inside of the pot, and the bunny’s bow to its neck.
This is what my glitter bunny looked like on the back. I painted this non-glitter side with two coats of white
craft paint, (allowing to dry in-between) and while the paint was still wet I sprinkled the glitter on.
neck with hot glue, and my bunny was done. Like I said, if you like the bright-colored bunnies, then you can skip
the painting and glittering step.
Once my bunny was all done, I hot glued it to the basket. I also hot glued the handle to the inside of the Peat Pot.
Then I filled it with the white Easter grass and added the mini glitter eggs.
And there you have it. A sweet and simple mini Easter basket for your holiday party, decor, or tabletop.
These would make the perfect place card settings for your Easter table. Just attach a name tag to the basket
somewhere, and put on your guests’ plates.
