Our cozy fall home

Heyyyyyyy!

I am so excited that it is finally October! I love fall so much and by mid-July (just when it’s getting warm in SW Washington State ha!) I start thinking of cozy fall everything 🙂

I told myself this year I was not going to do a lot, but I ended up spreading fall cheer (and lots of orange) all through our home. Now when I get home or walk thru each space I love how warm and welcoming the rich, earthy colors make you feel!

This year we did a quick makeover on both fireplaces and simply primed and painted the boring tile that was around each of them. We used a dark almost-black grey and I love how it turned out.

I love to thrift, probably more than I really should but I love breathing new life into something and helping keep things from landfills too. I love my laughing man above, he is probably my favorite find from this summer. This little pot to the right was kind of the inspiration behind our fall vibe. I love the colors together.

A little bit of faux Rosemary in another thrifted pot set inside one of our monkey pod wood platters. Wood brings so much warmth to each little spot you can display it in, this usually holds remote controls in the family room but not this fall. I shopped the house and moved things around to mix it up a bit and I am loving the way it turned out. My family knows when this is happening as I must be very obvious as I move things and put them back, them move something else and look at it for a while then decide I love it there. I am fairly certain this is entertaining to them.

We found the leopard at a huge yard sale this summer from Italy, he has moved around a bit this summer and is now protecting the hearth in the front living room. Some Target throws and Jungalow pillows pulled our earth tone vibe all together.

This sofa table has been in need of some paint for a while but for now she is draped in a long macrame runner and covered in plants. Like all tables should be right? Hopefully the painting will happen this winter, or next spring or whenever. I kind of like it all scratched and faded just like she is!

The fabric on our hall tree is from Zimbabwe and I love the colors so perfect with what we already had in here. It was a Lowe’s find and while it serves a great purpose it needed that zhoosh.

I added a few new orange touches to go above the large hutch that stores my sewing machine, craft supplies and more candles than I should have lol 🙂

I put a long cutting board on top of a mustard and ivory runner from Marshall’s on the dining room table. Added a dough bowl, some faux fall greenery and tucked some faux and dried fall florals into this vase, also from Marshall’s.

We have a long church pew on one side of the dining table that was free, and originally 12 feet long. I convinced Troy in 104 degree heat a few years ago that it was something we had to have. We have loved her ever since! Some comfy Jungalow floor cushions make the perfect poof too lean against for the pew.

I found this carved salad serving set at a local shop recently and while they are not vintage I love them, so warm and unique.

I swapped our sheer white summer curtains for a bold paisley that I originally bought (same yard sale Mr. Italian Leopard came from) for the fabric but I washed and hung them in the family room and they are perfect here for cozy nights with the fire going 🙂

Switching up pillows and throws and few accessories made our fun summer vibe more cozy and warm. You might spot some more leopards (yes a wee bit of an obsession right now) on the long family room couch. And online score from Society 6.

And a shot of our entry way that I shared recently, I am still not sure how the terra cotta paint will flow with Christmas trees in a few months but I guess we will just have to see what happens right?

Thank you so much for taking a moment to check out our ideas for adding warmth and comfort in your home as the days get shorter and temps cooler. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and find a little time to fluff your nest and do some things that make you feel joyful and refreshed 🙂

Until next time, xo

  1. I love all the new touches and I bought the exact vintage Chinese man about three weeks ago. I looked it up and it may even be antique. Each reference refers to it as Chinese anyway. Apparently he is holding a peach. I think he is part of three wise men, not in the religious sense. That’s so strange to me. I bought one other one holding a fish and rod because my husband is a fisherman. Thanks for posting at Funtastic Friday.
