Let me say first, that it’s not perfect.
And I know it never will be so I’m not trying for perfect, but instead a happy home with fun, laughter, and silliness being the priority above all else. We entertain a lot. What that means is we have our friends over all the time, and sometimes it’s homemade pizza on paper plates, and sitting on the floor with a fluffy pillow because there are no chairs left.
Sound like fun?
Ok, cool, here are some of our spaces, I will add to this as we go. One thrifty project at a time. My only decorating rule is that if you don’t love something, turn it into something else or get rid of it. Our homes should be our haven, and nest where we can be ourselves and feel at peace.
That is amidst stacks of laundry, a few dirty dishes and some dog hair 🙂
Here we go…
This is our upstairs playroom, it’s a large bedroom above the garage that we use to house toys, and
entertain not only our kids, but their friends as well. With a neutral background of grey walls,
and long white curtains we used accessories and funky upcycled projects to give it a fun laid-back
vibe. The kids love this space, and I find myself hiding out with a cup of coffee here often too.
Check out how I made these Rag Rug Pillows for our playroom here.
Abbie’s Big Girl Bedroom Makeover took her room from toddler to big girl for less than $100.
We repurposed the furniture, used some hand me downs, painted, and added some DIY projects
and here is what we ended up with. Yes, she LOVES it!
The yellow Euro shams were a Goodwill score, as was the small painting.
The dream catcher we made here, and the large floral picture is just pretty fabric
stretched over a large frame, easy!
The Herringbone Painted Wall was a super fun and easy DIY project,
and in her full room tour I show how I made some of the other things we used.
To see our 2013 Christmas Home Tour check it out here!
Our laundry room was featured in Good Housekeeping, it was a dark
room under the stairs in our home, with some paint, fabric and thrifty scores we
turned this space into a pretty place to fluff and fold every week!
Our boys share a bedroom, and their space is next for an
Industrial Shared Boys Room Makeover, it’s in the works now.
You will start to see some of the projects soon, and I hope to have the
reveal ready in a few weeks!!
