Our house

Welcome to our Casa!

While my blog began in 2012, we bought our together home in 2018, a 40 year old mid-century modern home on 1/3 of an acre.  The home was structurally sound and some renovations were done.  But there was a long ways to go!

Storage is at a premium so we get really creative, like using vintage dresser’s to store less-used items.  Here is our entry way for Summer 2022:

Our dining room was a light grey before but we recently painted it this fun yellow and gave our farmhouse table a modern update:

We love plants, is it an obsession at this point? Probably and I am totally ok with that 🙂

I like to try new things, I used to always play it safe and the last couple of years I realized how much I love COLOR 🙂 it’s my favorite!

I consider my style eclectic as it has a kind of global vibe with modern and vintage mixed in.  I love wood, fiber art, LOTS OF PILLOWS, and ceramics.  The great thing about an eclectic vibe is it all works together and tells a story of the people who live here and what we love.

Last year I decided to go a bit moody in our primary bedroom, the walls were a beautiful teal before we painted them with little black dress.  I love this color, too dark to be grey but not black.  Mixing a thrifted headboard we scored for $10 and some of my favorite wool blankets, we created the perfect modern boho vibe we wanted for this space!

Some of my favorite projects are things that I have had for a while and I see them in a new light.  This large basket was great before, but with a string of mop-head filler around the edges and some clearance beaded trim I had a whole “new” basket for one of my favorite plants.

An old metal curtain rod cut down, sanded and painted gold was the perfect hanger for this tied yarn wall hanging.  This is one of my favorite ways to add texture to a space!

Keep following along to see what we DIY next!
