Red + White Buffalo Check Christmas Light Garland

In the spirit of all things red and white this year (I cannot wait to show you the tree, but it’s not done yet so give me a few more days!)
I wanted to have a garland that I could hang anywhere that glowed in all of it’s red and white goodness and just
makes you happy each time you walk by it.

I have seen ping pong ball covered lights before for other types of garlands, but I wanted to try making a Christmas Garland
out of one.

Inspiration struck on a recent trip to Michael’s, when I found strings of red and white mini lights.
My heart went pitter patter and I knew exactly what I would do with them.

Well, kind of. And that never happens so it was awesome!

I picked up some packages of ping pong balls at Dollar Tree (yep, they were only $1 a package)
and with some Buffalo Check fabric, and an X-acto knife I was able to finish this in about 30 minutes.

Not bad, and this helps me have more time to finish the tree.

Which I have not yet.

But I am going to.

Soon.

🙂

 Supplies:

  • String of mini Christmas Tree Lights in color(s) of your choice
  • 3/4 yard of fabric (I used 45″ wide red and white Buffalo check from Jo-Ann’s)
  • Enough ping pong balls to cover all of your lights
  • X-acto knife
  • A cool place to hang your awesome new garland!

Directions:

Begin by cutting or tearing (I like to tear them it gives the fabric frayed edges) strips about 6″-8″ long to
be tied at each end and in between every light.  I just used a snug single knot, but a bow would also look
pretty too.  Next (and be careful, I didn’t put band aids on the supply list) carefully create a small “x” with
the X-acto knife on each ping pong ball.  Test your first one before you cut all of them to make sure you are
not cutting them too large or small.  Place each ball over a light, until all of the mini bulbs are covered.

Hang your awesome new garland proudly, or give as a pretty gift to someone you think is fabulous!

Wasn’t that super easy?

I know none of us have countless hours to craft (but I sure wish we did!) so I am hoping to bring you a whole
bunch of fun, pretty, and easy ideas for Christmas Decorating and Christmas Gift Giving this season.

  4. Aw, this was a very nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort
to make a top notch article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot and don’t seem to get anything
    done.
