Rice Krispie Easter Nest Treats

Have you ever seen edible candy Easter grass before?

This was a first for me, and while I couldn’t eat any myself (low carb/no sugar right now) the kids were pretty excited when they saw this magical stuff  come home with me.  I found a bag of it at Jo-Ann’s recently, and it looks like it’s imported from Germany.

I feel so fancy schmancy!

I thought I could wait until a bit closer to Easter to try it, but I just couldn’t.

When all of the pretty Easter candy hits the shelves, I start thinking about nothing else but Easter recipes and treats.  And since the kids are willing taste-testers (especially for desserts-odd huh?) I made my Rice Krispie treats in the shape of a little nest, and well, you know, filled them full of CANDY.

Here is what I used to make these little Easter Nest Treats:

Rice Krispie Easter Nest Treats
makes one dozen
I followed this recipe I love for Marshmallow Treats on Allrecipes.com
1/4 cup of butter
4 cups of mini marshmallows
5 cups of crisp rice cereal
Edible Easter grass
Robins’ Eggs Candy1 dozen muffin liners in pretty spring colors
You will want to grease a 12 muffin tin well first, and set aside.  Melt butter, add marshmallows, and once they
are melted and well blended, fold in rice cereal and press with a greased spoon or hands into muffin tin to create
12 little nests.  Set them aside and allow them to cool.
Once the nests are completely cooled and firm, use a knife to loosen each and place them in their paper muffin
liners.  Work with a few pieces of edible grass at a time to create a little grass nest inside of each marshmallow treat
and fill with Robin’s Eggs Candies.
The last step is to hide them.  Because they will be spotted from many feet away, and quickly consumed by Easter
treat loving people of all ages.
Enjoy!

    1. My kids gobbled them up right after the photos were taken, so I think they liked them too! Thank you Corey, xo
