The Front Porch for Fall…it has just begun

I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite ways to decorate for Fall without
busting my decorating budget for the season.  Natural elements, burlap, squash, flowering
cabbage and kale, and a pumpkin {or twelve} are a few of my favorite ways to primp my
porch.  These are the secret files of a sneaky Fall decorator.

Every year I spend weeks hanging leafy garlands around the doorways, along with dried twig wreaths,
and use a couple window panes to create a pretty vignette or two.  I like to feel like
I am at the pumpkin patch when I walk up my driveway and enter our home.  I will layer
in the corn stalks, more pumpkins, and a few more fun crafts as I go, but this gives me
a great base to take me all the way through Thanksgiving.  And, the best part…anything
I use that came from a local farm or grocery, can be used as compost outside later.

If I start out with some simple, pretty pumpkins, no one seems to notice if I slip in a couple
more pumpkins or a gorgeous basket of gourds every so often.
And perhaps some lights.
And more flowers.
But just every day or so.
Yes, I am that lady in your neighborhood.  And I bet if you are reading this, you are too.
The one who is always outside tweaking her porch,or hunched over a dessert in the driveway
trying to get just the right shot.
We can be seen pushing a huge cart at the thrift store, buying piles of burlap with a coupon at
JoAnn’s, and racing outside to get just the right “shot” of something chevron.

And possibly even a new, well, new to me rustic bench that would look perfect with a fall
blanket draped over it.
I did see a couple more mason jars in the garage….they would look really pretty with some
tea lights on a cool Fall evening.

Yeah, that was my truck slowing down earlier today around the corner when a neighbor put out
a “free” table full of stuff.
But I just grabbed one thing.
I was on my way home from the store with some stuff for my porch.
Just a couple more things of course.

  1. Tanya I really love everything you have done here. The window with the cabbage and kale looks so pretty. The metal tin hanging is also very nice.
