Thrifting, coffee & loving the DIY life

thrifting compulsion:
the compulsion to visit thrift stores or any establishment with low priced used
goods on a more-than-frequent basis. the inability
to apply self control when
a thrifting opportunity presents itself. thrifting has begun to effect your
relationships such as being late for a wedding due to stopping at a thrift
store.
late to appointments. overall disregard for time when entering a
thrift store. your behavior & amount of time and money spent in said
thrift store is utterly dependent on how much good stuff they have.

Hi, my name is Tanya, and well…I’m not sure I am officially addicted to
thrifting.  But if there is a step right before, I might possibly be close to it.

All joking aside, I’m sure we all have someone in our lives who think we are just
a little too into crafting, thrifting, yard sale-ing, moving-furniture-around-way-
too-much-ing, you know.

I am totally ok with someone thinking I am a little too obsessed with
finding a set of turquoise Foo dogs.  Or, if we do these projects, and work so
hard to complete a room, or piece of art, we must be making a lot of money
at it.

Most of us are DIY-ers because we just love it.
It makes us happy & peaceful.
It’s our passion, and it energizes us.
It’s our dream, and we couldn’t imagine a day without Pinning something that
we want to bake, make or create.

I can’t imagine a world without yard sales, thrift stores & flea markets.
It sounds like a terrible place, and I wouldn’t enjoy it much at all.
Sometimes inspiration can hit right in the middle of a store, surrounded
by stuff.  Or the idea is born, then you add it to your mental “look for this”
list.

I don’t want to fill my home with “stuff” and have it decorated all at once.
It’s a gradual lifelong collection and evolution of our interests and passions.
Thrifting is an integral part of that process because many times we come
across something we have been looking for, or something very unique.
And when the time comes for these treasures to leave our hands and be
passed along, well, we can always have a yard sale.

Recycling in it’s most stylish and entertaining form.

Go ahead, stop.
I’ll jump out of the car and dig around with  you.
Then we can go get coffee and revel in the glory of our finds.

Yard sale season is kicking off this time of year, and I feel like a kid in a toy
store. Squeal, it’s just so much stinkin’ fun.
Do you look forward to yard sale season and thrifting too? Or perhaps
have someone in your life who doesn’t appreciate the hope you see in
the discarded treasures you find? Go ahead and rant, brag, and tell me
about what you love about the thrill of the hunt!!

Have a blessed & wonderful day friends, love you SO!

  1. Love this post <3 My perspective on anything is that enthusiasm is always a good thing, granted it's over something positive, and we should never hide it! Compulsive thrifter here reporting for duty!
I actually just hit up my first yard sale of the season this past weekend. The thrill of the find is just too addicting!

    1. Ha! I couldn’t agree more Amy 🙂
