I found this table for $2 at a local yard sale.
I didn’t have to pounce on
it screaming out “it’s sold” but I might have
if the need arose.
This sale was a bit slow so we scored this
table and a bookcase for $10 without
any incident. It was a delicious little
split pea green for a long time. And there
she sat in the corner of my kitchen, then
in our spare bedroom for almost 2 years.
I finally decided what our little green
table needed to become.
A cool farmhouse table with casters.
~so~
I MADE MY OWN CHALK PAINT! It was really easy and I love the way
it turned out.
I used about 1 1/2 cups of flat latex paint
from a gallon of interior paint I already
had on hand. In a small dish I mixed
3 rounded tablespoons Plaster of Paris with
about 1/4 cup cold water. I added this to
the paint and combined it well.
I ended up using two good coats, and
after a bit of sanding I used a satin
poly sealer to seal the top surface.
Next I added casters to the feet of the table.
Each foot was capped in metal so I used my
awl to create a small hole so each screw
was able to easily go in.
Now my sad split pea table is a great “new”
farmhouse style table, with some rockin’
new wheels to make her even more
fabulous. A little shabby, kind of industrial,
and topped with a vintage tea towel
(tutorial coming soon!)
and I am having so much fun wheeling my
extra work space around my kitchen.
Now I just need to convince the kids
how fun it would be to peel some potatoes
at the new table.
Think it will work?
I would love for you to follow twelveOeight!

Oh WOW T!!! It's fabulous! I'm going to have to try your recipe!
Looks gorgeous Tanya, and I love the casters.
Love it!! I'm curious do you decorate your house with all of this stuff or do you sell it?
I would love this for my kitchen but we don't have room. We have a bar but I like this better!
i love how this little table turned out 🙂

Another great project! Love how the table turned out (and what a steal!)
Definitely worth a try to convince the kids that it's fun to peel potatoes at that table. Maybe it will help them get a feel for the past and how many kid probably did stand there peeling potatoes. 🙂 Nice table!
It's so pretty! I hope I find something like this when the garage sales start in our area…
I'm LOVING your little table! I have yet to meet a farmhouse table painted white with colored paint showing through that I didn't like.

What an awesome yard sale score. I am guilty of once running and yelling I'll take it over a table at a yard sale. I was so embarrassed afterwards but I seen the other lady going for it lol. I don't regret it now because I love the little table but I was surprised at my dedication lol. I am your newest follower from the blog hop 🙂

Great score and it sounds like the table served you well over time, and now she's all freshed up (with wheels) and ready to start life anew.
Nice job!
Happy Easter Coming soon and it's always great to see creative minds at work.

I can't believe all the great finds people get for almost nothing. I think I need to start going to yard sales.
Your table is great.

Hi! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless
I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links
or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa? My site goes over a lot of the same topics as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from
each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to send me
an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!
I will right away seize your rss as I can’t find your email subscription link or e-newsletter service.
Do you have any? Kindly permit me recognise in order that I may subscribe.
Thanks.
