Hey guys! My name is Amy and I blog over at The Blissful Bee. I am one of the new contributors to
twelveOeight and SO happy to be here to show you one of my recent furniture makeovers.

GoldDrawers

A few months ago, I repainted my bedside dresser drawers, found here. I thought the makeover was complete until I noticed something was a little off with the paint job. My sweet hubby will sometimes
leave the dresser drawers open and it eventually made me notice a huge mistake I had made a new
months prior. What was the mistake you might ask??? Well… The inside of the drawers had been left unpainted!! What was I thinking?? The original makeover happened in the middle of a big move back
in January. Honestly, I probably didn’t even think about it or care too much at the time. They remained
this awful yellow color that they had originally been painted back in the 80’s. I knew I didn’t want to
paint them the same color as the dresser, so I began brainstorming!

After much thought, I ended up choosing a subtle gold metallic color. I first tried using a gold craft
paint but quickly realized that wasn’t going to work. The craft paint wouldn’t soak into the wood
and just looked really odd and spotty. I made a quick trip to my local craft store and bought some
antique gold metallic spray paint. I then taped off the areas I did not want painted, and began spraying.
The process took no time at all! The spray paint dried super quick and I was able to place the drawers
back in place about 15 minutes after they were sprayed. I guess metallic colors dry much faster than
normal spray paint?? Either way, I was so happy with the end result! I can now say this makeover is
finally complete:)

I love the way the gold picks up the brassy tones in the knobs. I didn’t notice it as much before,
but now I think it really pops!

If you like this gold makeover, I will be starting a weekly ::GOLD:: series over the next few weeks!
I have so many fun gold DIY projects to post about and would love for you all to stop by.

I think this will be happening every Tuesday but that is to be determined. I also host a weekly linky
party called Work it Wednesday – link up your fun posts and you just might be featured!

I'm surprised at myself but really love the gold on drawers and gray on body of chest. Very good combo. I usually prefer silver but the gold is very appropriate with the gray and love the knobs with the gold. Very catchy looking and pretty. I like something different also, good job, great posts. Happy summer
Will look forward to your gold series.
