Chalk Paint Shabby Industrial Kitchen Stools

It’s been too long since I have worked on some furniture makeovers, and these stools I have had
stashed in the garage needed some serious help.  You know, a super-oakey-orange-chipping-
finish, just asking for a new look.  So when I found out about DecoArt’s new chalk paint I
couldn’t have been more excited to race out to the garage in search of my next redo.

Did you know that DecoArt just came out with a new chalk paint that is being sold at
Home Depot? They just released it this week, and I was so excited to have the opportunity
to test it out on my latest project.  I received a box of six colors, and ended up choosing
two, Yesteryear and Relic.  I used Relic on the legs of the stool.

The beauty of chalk paint is skipping the step of sanding.  I am not a huge fan of sanding,
and if I can avoid a step, I will! I used two coats to give each stool a nice rich layer of color.
The paint was very easy to work with, and nice and thick, without being too thick.  If you
do a lot of painting or furniture refinishing, you know what I mean.
Kind of like Goldilocks, it was just right…

Once the legs were done I used Yesteryear on the seat of each stool, then stenciled on my design
and grain sack pattern numbers and letters with some acrylic paint.

And gave the edges a light sanding with a fine grit paper on my palm sander.

Voila! Two new stools, all dressed it in a pretty vintage/industrial new look.  Not bad for a
pair found off Craigslist for $7.

What do you think? Do you think you will try this new paint by DecoArt?  I cannot wait to
begin working on our bedroom furniture this winter, there is a lot of it to paint, and I think I
have chosen the color too…

I received the product mentioned above for my honest review, but received no financial compensation as a result of
this product review.  As always all opinions are 100% my own.

The second job was part of an addition and remodle to my home, mostly interior with some exterior trim work. I had high expectations going in having seen their work a few months prior. Orlando Painters
