My Wine Tasting Party with VinoVinti

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of VinoVinti for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Let me first say that I am by no means a pro when it comes to wine.
The entire topic is fairly intimidating, but over the years I have figured out what I
do and don’t like, and what to pair it with.
A good working knowledge is good enough for me.

I was recently introduced to a wine accessory that I knew would be fun to try
out this year at our Wine Tasting Party.  It’s called VinoVinti, and it became a
fun lesson in winemaking as well as a bit of science for me as I researched why
it works so well.  Typically, most of us will notice and probably not love the sometimes
acidic bite that wine can leave you with.  This tool speeds up the process that years
of mellowing, aeration or decanting can do to less than 30 seconds per bottle.

So here is how it works: By removing a principal gas left behind in your bottle of wine
(carbon dioxide) your entire bottle of wine now has a smooth, open flavor that was
masked by the tannins and acids prior.  Interesting!

We tried the VinoVinti with one of our favorite red wines by an Oregon winery, Oak Knoll.
First we poured an ounce or two into a glass so we could compare the treated and
untreated wine from the same bottle.  We tasted the Pinot Noir, and then treated the
remainder and sampled it.  I was really pleased with the difference using this tool made
to the entire taste and flavor of the wine.  We were able to taste some of the woodsy tones
and fruit that we hadn’t tasted in that way before, it was really fun!

The story behind how this was invented is very interesting
and am glad to have discovered what will now be on my gift giving list for friends
and family this year.  Since we are just your average family breaking open some wine on
a Friday night to enjoy with pasta or a steak, I don’t feel comfortable really buying wines for
friends who are way more knowledgeable on the topic.  But I will without a doubt be buying
them one of these extracting tools, it takes any wine and makes it even better.
That’s something that anyone can use! Head over to VinoVinti and see how
easy it is to get a few of your gifts (great hostess gifts too!) checked off your list today!!

We paired our wine with one of my favorite and easy to make appetizers:

  1. It's always nice to have a simple get together with friends or relatives, especially when there's wine. I think you should definitely go for it, Tanya. Next Christmas, despite their knowledge of wine, you should have one delivered to them as a gift because it's always the thought that counts. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
