Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Treats

Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Treats combine the ooey gooey goodness of marshmallows (my kids love that) and the nutty, rich flavor of browned butter which mama adores.  There are a few variations of this recipe out there, this is mine, and I love not only how pretty they are, speckled with pumpkin pie spice.  Yay for fall baking!

If you have never browned butter before, it’s super easy, and worth the extra step.

Brown Butter Pumpkin Spice Treats

10 Cups of Rice Krispies
One Bag or large or small marshmallows
14 T. Butter (I prefer to use salted but unsalted is great too!)
2 rounded teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice

Melt your butter over medium heat stirring as it melts.  Turn up the heat a bit as the melted butter begins to foam.  Next you will see the butter begin to brown on the bottom of the pan, and it will begin to smell kind of nutty (that’s good!) Continue to stir the butter until it has reached the stage you see below, where the majority of the foam is gone, and the butter is looking more brown.

Be careful to stop at this point and not continue cooking as it will burn. Next, remove from heat and add your marshmallows and pumpkin pie spice. Set your pan back on the heat and stir until your marshmallows are melted. Stir in your Rice Krispies and press into a greased 13″ x 9″ pan with buttered fingers or spatula and allow to cool.

Once your treats are cool, remove them from the pan and cut into squares.  And you my friend are in for a treat.  Make sure to only display a portion of the recipe, as to not reveal to friends and family how many you really have.  Those are for you, for your secret stash, think of them as a commission if you will for being fabulous, and doing all you do.  And I highly recommend a Chai Tea Latte to go with them, yummy!

Thank you for baking with me today, hugs & blessings to you and your family

xoxo, Tanya
