Washed canvas pumpkins + early fall

It didn’t take much for the Fall Bug to hit hard here at casa twelveOeight.

One rainy afternoon and a couple fall Scentsy cubes and I found myself going thru my fall decor in the garage…

Pinning some casseroles…

And thinking up a new way to ease our home into early fall without too much of a backlash from the rest of the tribe.

We have had many days in the 90’s and even over 100 degrees in the Pacific Northwest lately.

To say I am looking forward to some rain seems a little strange, but that is just too hot for this girl.

And, I happen to adore Fall, and everything about it. [Read more…]

5 things to make and bake right now for fall

I have a whole lot of fall goodness in the works right now.

We had a 100 degree day this week, needless to say it almost took away my Fall Mojo.

But cooler days have returned and so has the itch to cozy up the house and make some Fall stuff.

But before I get ahead of myself, I have had so much fun looking at some of the fun fall DIY’s and noms we have made the past few years! [Read more…]

How to dry hydrangeas + slowing your roll

The North side of our house has four gargantuan (that’s a real word right?) hydrangea plants.

These things are huge, gorgeous and they have intimidated me for 8.5 years.

This was the year I was going to win at hydrangea-ing.

For real. [Read more…]

Free Thanksgiving Printable + Brooke has a special announcement!

Happy November twelveOeight readers!
It’s Brooke from Blissful Roots.  It’s been a big few weeks here at our house, and I’ll share more
on our newest addition at the end of the post, but first up I have a simple Thanksgiving printable to share with you today.

I found this beautiful chalkboard background at Lilac & Lavendar quite awhile back,
but I keep using it for my printables every now and again.
I love the simple, elegant beauty of it.
You can put any word/phrase on it, in any font, and you have an amazing work of art to display in your home.
I’ve always loved the word gather.
It really could be used year-round, but it’s especially fitting for the Thanksgiving season.
I really do love all of the amazing food associated with Thanksgiving,
but without having your loved ones to gather with, it would all be for not.

Cozy Flannel Pumpkins | Perfect for Thanksgiving

how to make flannel pumpkins

Flannel, apple cider, pumpkin pie.

We still have some Fall to celebrate before it’s time to deck the halls right?

Well, just about every year I try to find a new way to decorate those lovely faux pumpkins from
the dollar store.  This time I wanted to try upcycling a cozy red flannel shirt that my Hubs just
wore for our Halloween party.  He wasn’t going to wear it again, and while it was a thrifty Goodwill
score, I wanted to find a way to use it again.

Gluten Free Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread Recipe

downeast maine pumpkin bread

Mixing up a batch of pumpkin bread seems to make the house smell wonderful, doesn’t seem
to last long once it’s out of the oven, and everyone loves to receive it as a gift.
It makes a great hostess gift, or something wonderful to bring a new mama, or friend just because.

This bread is from canned pumpkin, but we did grow pumpkins this year.
Not on purpose however.
They were kind of a happy accident in a big garden on the North side of our home that you can’t
grow anything in.
Not enough light, and I am fairly certain the largest population of ants in North America may live
in this garden as well.  So with the whole no light/plant eating insect combo we have had zero

Until this year.

The year of the wayward squash.   [Read more…]

DIY no-sew Trick or Treat Bag

no sew trick or treat bag

Disclosure: I have been compensated for this post, however all opinions are truthful and my own.

I had you at “no-sew” huh?
I can’t believe Halloween arrived so quickly for us this year, well maybe not the day itself yet, but certainly the
planning/making/hot-gluing etc… I was super excited when I had the chance to use  Tulip glow paint recently to create a
Halloween craft and share it with you! My boys are leaning a little more towards zombies this year, but Abbie will
still let me be all girly with her this time of year.  That is when she isn’t chasing zombies with her big brothers.

She helped me choose a trick or treat bag that is just her style, will hold a ton of candy, glow in the dark
AND even show up under black light.
I know, and you know that we have one party a year that has a black light.  She is going to be so excited when she
realizes that the pink bow on her bag is glowing like crazy!

Here is what I used to make this super easy Hello Kitty Trick or Treat Bag: [Read more…]
