Inspiration Monday Party | awesome party features!

I have fully embraced fall! I’ve pulled out the sweaters, boots and the slow cooker.
I made my first batch of spiced apple cider and soup is on the menu and I’m ready for some comfort food. Apples, cinnamon, pumpkin and caramel are at the top of my favorites flavors right now.
My love for fall is definitely reflected in today’s linky party features!
Are you ready for fall or are you mourning the loss of summer?

Pumpkin Spice Scone Recipe

Starbucks Pumpkin Scones recipe

We have probably all seen the “time for pumpkin EVERYTHING” meme online about a dozen times by now,
but for real.  It’s fall, so it IS pumpkin everything, and then some.

One of my hands-down favorite treats to make is a good scone.  And my personal fave are Starbucks Pumpkin Scones,
they are just so good, but being gluten free, I cannot enjoy them like I used to.  So, this scone recipe has a gluten free
alternative for those of us who miss our scones!

Are you feeling like it’s time to bust out those baking pans and get busy right now?
Me too, so instead of dropping a few dollars per scone, let’s make a big ol’ batch to enjoy for a fraction of the cost…

Oh, and of course without leaving your house, perfect on a blustery Fall day!

DIY Painted Sugar Skull

"hintergrund roter teppich//foto hintergrund roter teppich//hintergrund hochzeits "

I have a heavy influence of Spanish and Native American art and history in my artistic psyche, probably since I
grew up in a community with both cultures represented via food, art, and music, they are interests that I find
myself continually drawn to.

And, I love bright colors, and sometimes a well-placed fake flower too.
Today’s project is something I have been longing to do, and never found the right medium.
Until a Dollar Tree trip to pick up a few things, and I scored this skull door-knocker. [Read more…]

Slow Cooker Bacon Wrapped Chicken (easy & low carb!)

chicken recipe, slow cooker chicken, crock pot chicken

Chicken is probably my main go to food when it comes to meal planning.

That is when I plan.

But my slow cooker recipes save the day every time.  And this is hands down one of my favorites.
Once the cooler temperatures of September and October arrive, my slow cooker is working overtime,
simmering and cooking dinner while I scurry around tending to everything else.

Chicken breast can also tend to be a bit dry if it doesn’t have enough time to cook slowly & retain
as much moisture as possible.

I could ramble on about my favorite slow cooker recipes, but for today, let’s throw dinner in and let
it cook on low all day.

Your house will smell amazing, and people will think you worked very hard on this simple dish.
No need to tell them our secret, unless of course they are also in the slow cooker club, then it’s ok. [Read more…]

County Fair Caramel Apple Milkshake

caramel apple milkshake 1

When I was a little girl, we celebrated Fall in a few different ways.

The first was buttoning up the garden for winter, and storing all of the squash and potatoes we grew over the summer in
hay bales or in our basement.  It also began to really feel like Fall when leaves crunched underfoot, walking home from
a friends house after school, with the smell of wood smoke from the neighbor’s wood stove in the air.

But in case I wasn’t ready for Fall quite yet, one thing always made me feel like Fall was upon us, and that was the Caramel
Apples we could buy at the County Fair.   With local Washington apples on the end of every stick, dipped in rich
homemade caramel, and set out on paper to dry.  Those Caramel Apples were a treat to look forward to every time.

I will admit, I don’t make a lot of them around casa twelveOeight these days, but we do love a good milkshake.  So I
decided I would blend two of my favorite things in the world, those Caramel Apples from the County Fair, and ice cream!

{Jamie @ Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom chose the features this week!}
Here are the top picks:

DIY Halloween BOO Wreath

" Hair Replacement Systems Australia,Toupees Australia and Hairpiece for Men"

If you happen to know someone who is completely, 100%, addicted to paper, and glue, and glittery letters….

You might want to share this with them.

Two awesome things will happen, the first they will make a small dent in their paper hoard.

And the best part, have a new wreath after about 30 minutes of paper-folding, hot-gluing and giggling over
how pretty their paper is.

DIY faux deer taxidermy

 Custom Banners//Custom backdrop//Backdrop DIY

At the after-Christmas sales last year I picked up a few fun new pieces to incorporate into
my holiday decorating.  Yep, it’s almost October and I am finally doing something with them!

One thrifty find was a paper mache deer, laying and looking backwards.
It was $1, and I knew I wanted to upcycle it into a faux mount of some sort.

Going through some very old decorating stuff I came across something that must have been
a leftover relic during the country, duck/pig sponge-paint-everything days.
This little gem needed a makeover, but the frame was really cool, and I figured if I used
some chalkboard paint, I could bring it back from pastel-ville.
