Building stronger bones together #ViactivYoursAndHers

I have to admit up until now I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about my bones, or bone loss. But I am turning 43 this month, and I have been thinking about ways I can incorporate more calcium into my diet. Did you know that 70% of us gals on average are calcium deficient? I have thought that I had a fairly calcium-rich diet, but reassurance that I am easily getting 100% of the daily recommended amount of calcium, plus vitamins D3 and K is what I need at this point.

I recently tried Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews, and I really liked how convenient they were. The #1 reason I don’t take my vitamins or forget to, is the giant bottles up in the cupboard. These are individually wrapped so it’s really easy to toss a couple in my purse or bag as I head out the door. And, they are available at many of the places I already shop like Walmart, Rite-Aid, CVS, Target, Walgreens and drugstore.com.

Viactiv also has a 15th Birthday Bash Giveaway! For the months of April, May, June and July between the 4th and 15th of each month you can enter to win two canisters of Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews. One for you, and one for someone you love, to build strong bones together! Fifteen winners are chosen on the 15th of each month, for a total of 60 winners, not bad! Winners will be announced on the Viactiv Facebook Page, learn more at https://www.facebook.com/viactiv and http://viactiv.com/

Summer Fun and a Wyler’s Light #JustAddWater Giveaway too!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jel Sert for SocialSpark.
All opinions are 100% mine.
Summer is in full swing, and I am always trying to find a way to cut back on high-calorie drinks
for my family.  I have made Wyler’s Light a staple on my shopping list for a long time.  But with
Wyler’s Light Singles To Go we can enjoy a cool low-calorie drink anytime we want. I can toss
a few Singles To-Go packs in our bag and keep our juice and soda consumption down.  We just
add them to our favorite water bottles and go!

As easy as it is to bring some Singles To-Go packs with me on the run, backyard play dates and
entertaining just became way easier.  I am sure it’s only my kids who cannot agree on a flavor it I make a pitcher to share.  Now they can be as selective as they want and can each choose their own flavor.  I
opt for Iced Tea with Peach most of the time.  They seem to gravitate towards Pink
Lemonade,  Kiwi Strawberry, and Cherry Berry.
These will be coming in very handy once the sports season is in full swing again, my budget will
love me for not grabbing an iced coffee every time we leave our neighborhood too.

We all love a chance to win awesome stuff, and if you haven’t already, you will want to enter
Wyler’s fabulous giveaway going on August 1st to August 18th!

How to enter:
Visit Wyler’s Light “Just Add Water” Giveaway
“Like” Wyler’s Light on Facebook
Click on the “just add water” tab
Follow the prompts to enter!!

then:
done!

Here are the Prizes:
2 weekly winners (total of 14 winners):
Two (2) Wyler’s Light 8ct Singles to go
Seven (7) “First Prize” winners:
(1) Wyler’s Light Summer Prize Pack (which includes five (5) Wyler’s Light 8ct Singles to go! boxes, two (2) Wyler’s Light 12qt canisters, and 2 water bottles
Three (3) “Grand Prize” winners: assortment of Wyler’s Light product for one year (eight (8) Wyler’s Light 12qt canisters), twenty two (22) Wyler’s Light 8ct Singles to go! boxes and four (4) Wyler’s Light water bottles
(I know, wouldn’t that be awesome?!)

Packing lunches and getting stocked up for the back-to-school rush just became less
stressful too.
As you can probably tell, I kind of {adore} Wyler’s Light Singles To Go.  Don’t forget to

Book Page Valentine Garland

I have a confession to make, I think I have become addicted to Holidays.  Is that possible? As I vacuumed up the pine needles and took the last of the Christmas ornaments out to the garage, I was thinking about…Valentine’s Day.  I found myself sorting through my fabric, sorting out everything for the next few projects.  Making a list of what I need would like to get for the next few ideas dancing around in my head to follow after the ones that are currently in the hopper.

Valentine’s Day is wonderful, because we all have people that we love in our lives.  People that mean so much to us, and we want to express that love and appreciation.  So, while we always have some yummy recipes and some DIY projects too.  You will start to see more Valentine’s Day goodies and projects in your inbox from twelveOeight.  Why start now? Because we have less than 6 WEEKS until V Day, so we gotta get our glue guns fired up and start making some stuff.

Crafting and creating with paper is fun all year, but there are SO many thrifty projects to try this time of year.  Since it’s just the New Year still, I have a pretty “LOVE” banner not fully decked out in pink and red, but a soft grey-lavender.  And book pages of course.  My first banner of the year HAD to have some book pages in it…

I cut four heart shapes out of my scrapbook paper, folded in half with scalloped craft scissors.

Used a floral page punch along the bottom of each of the four book pages.  Then a single hole punch at the top of each corner, weaving a long piece of jute twine through.  Next I attached the lavender hearts with scrap booking glue to my book pages, then mounted each letter spelling love out.  I found a large package of these recently at Target for $5.00 pre-cut, and a full alphabet in gold and silver.  Not bad!

I hung my banner against a chalkboard on my kitchen counter, and above a chippy little wooden box.  I painted the box a few months ago with black satin spray paint and sanded until it looked nice and shabby.  A little more jute twine, and some white flowers, and we were in business.

The creator of this hot rod is none other than my six year old Logan.  He was excited when he saw me taking a picture of this morning’s masterpiece.  I told him that if he gets Mama a car like that, painted just like that, I will totally take it grocery shopping.  Maybe a mommy night out too…

A close up of this super-easy Valentine craft, all with supplies you may already have or can easily find at Jo Ann’s or other craft stores.

A soft, romantic vignette for my kitchen.  A hint of Spring around the corner, but not here yet.  Winter white flowers, chippy paint, a chalkboard, and a pretty banner to make it complete.

Thank you so much for crafting with me today!

Don’t forget to add twelveOeight to your weekly link party list!
We go live every Monday at 5pm PST

Peppermint Mocha Milkshake

While I enjoy grabbing seasonal flavored coffee in the fall and winter at Starbucks, I like to make some yummy drinks at home too. Not only are they easy on the budget, but I can make them anytime, and can make them for guests too. This weekend I was craving something sweet and minty, but with a little coffee kick to it and came up with this little shake. I think I will make these for a cookie making party, or cookie exchange to go along with festivities. The coffee could be left out for the younger crowd too. And the coffee could be omitted if one wanted to add some mint liqueur as well.  I am already thinking about how much fun these could be to make on Christmas Eve.  Yummy!

Here is what I used:

Peppermint Mocha Milkshake
Makes 1 regular sized shake or 2 kid’s shakes

In a blender combine the following and blend on high until mixed well:
2 cups of vanilla ice cream
3/4 cup of milk (1/2 cup for a thick shake)
2 T. instant coffee granules
2 T. chocolate syrup
1/8 t. peppermint extract

I topped mine with some whipping cream and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candies.  It was a wonderful late afternoon pick me up.  Sweet, decadent and enough coffee to help me keep crafting and wrapping presents into the evening.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we do! Wishing you a wonderful day, hugs from my kitchen to yours…

xoxo, Tanya
