You may remember this globe from my Christmas 2014 tour.
I knew I wanted to use it again, and it has moved, and moved again multiple times but not been right.
Do you do that too? Keep tweaking and moving things? I am not sure if it falls under some sort of condition (especially coupled with the need to stop at thrift stores VERY often!) or just a love of fluffing our nests.
Either way, I have regretted many things I got rid of and few that I have kept. So there she sat.
I pulled out some craft supplies a few nights ago and looked at the pale pink glitter and pink and white striped letters I just found at Jo-Ann’s recently (all for $1.00 each too, perfect January prices!)
Normally I wouldn’t associate black and Valentine’s Day, but the letters needed a dark background to really show up. Same with the soft pink glitter.
I want to shake this glitter everywhere it is SO pretty!
Here is what I used to make my Be Mine Banner + Chalkboard Globe:
- thrifted globe painted in chalkboard paint
- Black lightly textured 12″ x 12″ card-stock (one piece should be enough)
- Pack of letters (I bought two since I needed two e’s)
- Gray and white baker’s twine
- Mod Podge
- Pink glitter
- White puff balls
- Glue Dots or hot glue
- Scissors, paint brush and a small needle or tool to punch the holes in the banner
I began by cutting my paper into the squares I wanted to use, and then cut a notch in the bottom of each piece.
Next I used a large darning needle and made a hole on the top corner of each piece of card-stock.
I ran my twine thru each, one string for “be” and another for “mine.”
Put my adhesive backed letters in place, and ran a thin line of Mod Podge on the bottom by each notch and sprinkled glitter on each.
I added the white puff balls last with my Glue Dots, and more Glue Dots to hang my banner on the globe.
Easy right?
This may have taken 20 minutes, adding more time to paint the globe and let it dry.
After all of the Christmas decorations have come down I am never ready to go crazy with decor so soon and love having my clean house back, so this is just perfect for a small Valentine vignette.
The possibilities of the globe are endless and I can’t believe it took me so long to use it again. I am so glad I hung onto it!
I hope this finds your week off to a wonderful start and wish you blessed + creative day friend!!

Tanya
