I like to make my own Chili Seasoning Mix when we make homemade chili.  It’s less expensive to make your own, you avoid MSG, gluten and flour additives and I love the way it tastes.
 I hope you do to!

Chili Seasoning Mix Recipe:
  • 4 t. chili powder
  • 1 t. crushed red pepper
  • 1 t. garlic powder
  • 1 T. dried minced onion
  • 2 t. ground cumin
  • 2 t. sugar
  • 1 T. dried parsley
  • 1 t. dried basil
  • 2 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. ground pepper

Blend ingredients well and store in an airtight container.  When you buy store bought chili seasoning mix it typically includes quite a bit of flour in it.  When you make your chili, if you would like it to be thicker, you can blend in a few small spoonfuls of corn masa mix or some re fried beans.  Both with thicken up the chili nicely and avoid using the flour as a thickener.

All Day Slow Cooker Chili Recipe

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • Two 15 ounce cans of chopped tomatoes
  • Two 15 ounce cans of kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • Three cups of water
  • Three stalks of celery, chopped
  • One chopped onion
  • 2 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup katsup
  • 2 t. sugar
  • 1-2 T. of homemade chili seasoning mix (above) depending on desired intensity.  If you start out with one you can always add more!

Brown ground beef and add it to your crock pot with remaining ingredients and cook all day on low.  I put mine on at 9am and it usually perfect by 6pm.  This recipe makes an excellent freezer meal, as it freezes and defrosts well.  We usually make a batch and eat if for lunch and dinner till it’s gone! Add some homemade corn bread and a salad and you are ready to eat.  A little sour cream and shredded cheese is how we like ours.

Hugs & Blessings
xoxo, Tanya

I love that you make your own chili seasoning. This looks like a great combination. I will have to try it. Chili seems to be one of those things Im constantly perfecting!

Oh! I'm going to try this! I don't usually put any seasoning… boring right?! I'm always scared I'll get heartburn haha

Thanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer… From Dream To Reality!

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Ie.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to
let you know. The style and design look great though!

Hope you get the issue solved soon. Kudos
