DIY fringed t-shirt scarf

I have warm weather clothes & accessories on the mind today.  We are expecting quite warm
weather here in the Pacific NW, and I am ready for it.  I have my maxi skirts, summer tops,
capri’s and this new DIY fringed t-shirt scarf all ready for summer fun!

I usually think of scarves for Fall and Winter.  But sometimes an outfit just needs something
extra.  Or we are at the coast and it’s windy and cools off in the evening.
I picked up this white t shirt for $2.50 at Jo-Ann’s when they had a sale going, thinking I could
create something I like.  And if it didn’t turn out as I envisioned, oh well.  I was only out a couple
bucks.

Grab a t-shirt and your fabric scissors, this is super easy and I LOVE how mine turned out!!

I cut the t shirt across right under the underarm seam so I had
one long tube to work with.  Holding the “tube” up I poked my scissors thru the t shirt and made
random slits lengthwise all around, about an inch or so long.  Using the remaining pieces from the
arms and upper part of the t shirt that I already cut off, I cut long strips about an inch wide out of
just about every leftover square inch of material.  I cut these going across the width of the shirt so
they were really stretchy.  I stretched each piece firmly, until it was more narrow and the edges,
then trimmed them to about 8 inches long each.  going around the top and bottom edges of the
scarf, I folded each “fringe” in half, running it thru the closest hole to the edge and pulling to
create a firm tied loop.

Do you like to wear scarves all year too? I love being able to take a t-shirt and jeans,
or sundress and quickly add just what I need to complete my outfit.  A jean jacket
and some big silver earrings…and we are in business!

I bet you probably already have a t-shirt or two in mind that you already have on hand to make
your own DIY scarf or two.  I would love to hear about what you come up with!!

Have a blessed & wonderful day friends, love you SO!

I was recommended this website by my cousin. I am not sure
whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed
about my difficulty. You are amazing! Thanks!
