DIY no-sew Trick or Treat Bag

I can’t believe Halloween arrived so quickly for us this year, well maybe not the day itself yet, but certainly the
planning/making/hot-gluing etc… I was super excited when I had the chance to use  Tulip glow paint recently to create a
Halloween craft and share it with you! My boys are leaning a little more towards zombies this year, but Abbie will
still let me be all girly with her this time of year.  That is when she isn’t chasing zombies with her big brothers.

She helped me choose a trick or treat bag that is just her style, will hold a ton of candy, glow in the dark
AND even show up under black light.
I know, and you know that we have one party a year that has a black light.  She is going to be so excited when she
realizes that the pink bow on her bag is glowing like crazy!

Here is what I used to make this super easy Hello Kitty Trick or Treat Bag:

Supplies:

• One fabric tote bag ( less than $4 at your local craft supply store)
• Black pipe-cleaners
• One sheet of white felt, one sheet of yellow felt (or scrap of yellow felt)
• Ribbon for the bow
• Hot glue
• Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark & Black Light Fabric Paints in desired colors (I used natural, yellow and pink)
• Iron
• Scissors

Directions:

Begin by pressing your bag until it is smooth, and allowing the fabric to cool and dry well.  Next, fold white felt in
half and cut out a freehand cat head shape or desired shape from your felt.  Center the cut out shape on the fabric
 tote and use a small line of hot glue all around under the edges to hold the felt in place.  Next cut a pipe cleaner in
 half and roll each piece into an oval shape for the eyes.  The whiskers are just one pipe cleaner cut in six pieces.
The nose is a small piece of yellow felt, curved at the corners easily with scissors.  The bow is made by using a
piece of ribbon about 6-7 inches long, ends connected, folded in half, and another small piece of ribbon wrapped
the other direction and tacked in place to cover exposed ends and create a “bow.”  

After I had attached the eyes,  etc…I ran a line of Tulip Glow-in-the-Dark paint in Natural around the edge of the cat face.
Next I used a bit of  yellow on her nose in the center.  And last, used some Black Light Fabric Paint to outline
her pretty pink bow.  Let the trick or treat bag dry well, and don’t forget to check out how much these show up
under black light and/or in the dark, depending on which of the paints you choose.  I used both so not only would
it show up well while  we are outside trick or treating, it will show up inside too under black light!
