DIY thrifty boho mirror

Are you ready for a low-time commitment project that looks cool? Yep me too!

I have had this basket for a while that has been a catch-all on top of our refrigerator for a few months. With back-to-school season approaching I really wanted to make something fun that was budget friendly too. Many of us will be focusing our time (and budgets!) on clothes, school supplies and SHOES. Do you have kiddos that seem to burn thru shoes like there is no tomorrow? Ok good, so I am not the only one. We are keeping Nike in business I am certain lol 🙂

I found these little mirror’s at Dollar Tree recently and thought this would be fun to spruce up a basket with some paint and a mirror. When I placed the mirror inside the basket however I could see that it needed some zhoosh. Enter the beads.

I did a simple design with masking tape around the edges, and gave each triangle a quick coat of flat black spray paint.

When it was dry I removed the tape, hot-glued the mirror in the center and added two layers of beads. I also burnt my left thumb because I want to operate my hot-glue gun in a more controlled fashion at some point but it’s not looking like it’s in the cards.

Because the basket has all those little edges on the back that you can use to hang it up I did not add a hanger.

And voila! A fun boho-wall-art-tribal-inspired-on-the-thrifty-side mirror that I made in about 30 minutes! Check out the band-aids in the next photo, I want to be a careful person but I am just not, so if you too tend to trip, drop things, stumble or burn yourself this is a judgement free space for you.

While it is still in the mid 80’s here in Washington State I am secretly planning Fall decor. It seems like folks are either team Fall when it’s still summer and they don’t care who knows or they are quietly stashing away goodies for that first pumpkin sighting. I think I land somewhere in the middle, so while we are still in full Summer mode at Casa twelveOeight there are some projects in the making that will certainly make you want a scarf. Or boots. Or something with caramel in it 🙂 How about you, when do you get the Fall bug each year?

Thank you as always for reading, appreciate you so! xoxo
