Dollar Tree Valentine Craft

 Valentine’s Day is a really fun time to make pretty things {to give or keep!}
Or better yet, both!
I recently found this red heart at Dollar Tree,
and I thought of about 473 different things I wanted to make with it.
But a “Be Mine” Valentine was what I ended up with today.
I have a large pillar in the first level of my home (open floor plan) between the dining and family room.  It is painted, and I always hang something there. Since it is fairly light in color I hung the finished wall hanging against a chalkboard so you could see all the pretty pom pom’s really well.

Here is what I used
  • Dollar store heart shaped base (they are about the size of a plate charger you would put under a dinner plate) perfect for a wall hanging
  • One sheet of Valentine scrap book paper
  • 1 1/2 yards of white pom pom trim
  • Chipboard letters leftover from other projects spelling out “Be Mine”
  • 10 inch piece of jute twine for the hanger
  • Hot glue, scissors

I began by cutting six rectangles out of the Valentine scrap book paper.  I wanted them to overlap in front of the pom pom trim so they went on first.  Just a small dab of hot glue at the corner of each to attach to the heart.  Next I added the letters with a small bit of hot glue to each little sheet.

After that I used a thin line of hot glue around the edges attaching the pom pom trim to the heart. And a dot of hot glue on both sides of the back to attached the jute twine as a hanger.

My kiddos got really excited when they woke up from their naps
and found it hanging up at the bottom of the stairs.
Similar to “how many days till Santa comes?”
I will now be counting down with them how many days until Valentine’s Day.

Excellent website you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics discussed in this article?

I’d really like to be a part of online community
where I can get feed-back from other experienced people that share the same interest.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Many thanks!
